Wildlife encounters

Ran into this little guy on the trail today. No clue what kind of snake it is. @SnakeCharmer ?

the bite is considered extremely painful due to the clamping force

I used to have a pet Chuckwalla as a youngster in addition to way too many snakes. He was soooo chill, just eating wild mustard flowers and carrots. One day, completely out of the blue, he chomped onto my thumb. None of us wanted to hurt the little guy, but we couldn't get him to let loose. Finally, we put an ice cube on his head and he immediately let go. My thumb turned that ugly blurple color and I lost my nail. I equate it to slamming a car door on your thumb. Ahh, those were the days - catching reptiles and raging on our Stingrays.
