Who's Riding Where???

Ready for a romp in the rocks.

A rabbit hole......lol
Shock Wiz, so I can see what is going on with the Luftkappe that was installed.
Please - for the love of God and all that's holy - ditch the Wiz and enjoy the plush without data. Let your hands, arms, legs etc. be your data acquisition tool and feedback mechanism. The Wiz can't comprehend what the Luftkappe is doing - so it will probably throw your numbers and recommendations all over the place.

I feel you.
All the settings are great except for the HSC. I will feel it or not today and if I like the way the fork feels I'm going to stick with it.
After all I have done with the Wiz, it helped me to understand suspension, and that's what I was after.
The test today has some punchy rocky climbs, rocky decents, flowy singletrack, and some steep fireroad climbs, which is normal for what I ride up here.
The following ride will be the usual 007 (my benchmark) adventure and will confirm that I have it set right. My arms always start to hurt at the same part of the trail because of the beating I was getting, if they don't it's all good.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Luftkappe provides the feel you are seeking. It can be a little gooey while climbing if you don't have a "climb" setting on your fork (which, for some reason, most long-travel forks don't offer anymore). Looking forward to your report.

PS: Don't add HSC. You might need to add some LSC to diminish diving - or add a token.

The trail doesn't have any big rock gardens to speak of, just a few sections of football and basketball size rocks.
Not having been on a bike since 8-17 I wasn't expecting much rhythm and control. I was wrong, the bike stuck like glue, was smooth, and predictable.
The Luftkappe gave me what I was looking for. It was just a tad "sharp" on the small stuff, but I was running about 5 psi more in the tires than usual.
Your PS is right on. A click or two on the LSC and I will be done with the set up. The shock needs nothing.
Thank you for putting up with my goofyitus.

When do I get to feel a smug sense of satisfaction and say "I told you so..." :sneaky:

In all seriousness I am stoked to hear this. And it won't be "sharp" on the small staff with some minor adjustments in psi - 5 psi in the tires is a lot. I don't know what you run, but I find 20psi to be a good front tire volume for most tires and most riding styles. The Luftkappe is typically described as incredibly supple on the small stuff.

That said - my Luftkappe was better in my Fox 36 Factory than it was in a later model Fox 36 Performance series.

20psi is what I run also. This morning they had 25psi. and I just went with it

Because of the fog bank they practiced a little more inland again. It's pretty awesome. I just had to stop talking on my zooms a few times :)

But If my 12 lb kitten can survive they can survive...

Granted she's hiding under the bed right now... but she'll be all good soon as it's over and I break out the bumblebee toy!
I live next to the base where they land and they come in right over the house. I love it, the mrs and the dogs not so much.
The Raptor is darn loud for a stealth plane. On Saturday it was making low passes over the base and then made a sharp banked turn that made the clouds on the upper wing. Very cool to see. The P-51 was awesome too.

Staying on thread, I’m going to hit my secret spot trail tomorrow, hopefully ahead of the heat, and dial in the refreshed cockpit.

I'm headed for a Whiting-Luge-Whiting loop. My hip is so bad now, I'm not sure I can ride.

Have you looked into stem cells? I consulted with a clinic in L.A. for a much lesser issue. Prices are typically $5K - $15K. I am not in nearly enough pain nor have enough loss of functionality (yet) that I was interested ... but if I could not ride due to pain I would drop the cash in a second.

None of my orthopaedic people have suggested such, but I'm not against it.

That is because it is not allowed in the USA because of big pharma money and they want you in pain so you take their drugs man!
Pro athletes, UFC fighters, etc all get stem cells these days. I brought up stem cells to my doctor and he looked at me like I was crazy. I should say former doctor, cuz I fired him on the spot. :Roflmao

Thank you. The conspiracy theorists among us will believe that you are part of the medical establishment backed by big pharma pushing out anti stem-cell propaganda to keep people sick and dependent on current therapies.

I, on the other hand, appreciate this article. I am not likely to seek "miracle cures" that could go horribly wrong. I would want to do a Sh!t-ton of research before I actually pay someone to extract and then inject stem cells into my hip. I'm not against it - if there is a practiced, bona-fide clinic with a history of overwhelming success.

Full thread derail.

Me and my hip may choose to ride locally again today. Aliso or LCWP. Or we may choose to stay home and do domestic and professional chores.

May the two of you (you and your hip) have a nice outing, if you go.

Shane Dorian is documenting his stem cell journey on Instagram. He has done three updates so far. Sounds like he is even more beat up than you.

It will be interesting to see what his outcome will be ... seems like he got injections damn near everywhere .
