Who's Riding Where???

Planning to do a Harding / Joplin / Luge loop on the single speed Sunday morning. Probably roll from my place about 6:30 and be at the bottom of Harding round 6:50 / 7ish. Anyone is welcome to join, I can meet anywhere between Portola Hills and Harding. I have no idea what pace I'm going at but the loop takes me about 3.5hrs and the climb to 4 corners is a bit over 1.5 hours of that.

@redwoods feel free to leave an excuse for this time :p:D:whistling:

Who knows?? I may be at the bottom of Harding at that time, and wave as you go way faster than I do. :Roflmao:Roflmao

Where is a safe place to park for this ride? I'm staying near the 5 and OSO pkwy. Also, is Satiago Cyn an out-n-back type of a ride? Thanks!

Just saw this or would have invited you! Here's the strava. If interested I'm happy to do it again sat or sun about 930am, and guide you. As a note with all the moisture it was a "cruise" of a ride, very little hammering.

All road/paved bike path;

Interested to hear how the mud is on this. STT hold up pretty good in the rain, but we got a Lot of rain..so....

Does anyone have any intel on how San Juan Trail will be on Sunday? I know that the upper section from Cocktail Rock handles rain well but the lower section can get a bit muddy. Not sure how much rain you guys got up there this week and today.
I rode it Wed morning, up to CR and back. only problem was some sticky mud on a few of the bottom switchbacks. Rest of it was primo. It maybe got another 1.5" on Thurs, but after 2 days of drying, i suspect itll be fine. May be downed trees above CR from the wind.

If I’m back in time I’ll be there at Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary at 7AM. Thanks for posting this up!

Too much for me. I hear the Luge & STT to the Luge is actually in great shape though ... so I will probably be out there Sunday unless Oaks is open.

Oh, challenge accepted!
  • Joplin sucks
  • I got a hangnail
  • I'm out of water
  • My truck needs a new turbo encabulator
  • I'll be too slow for you
  • My bike is too heavy
(wait...those last two are accurate)

Actually, I'll be bbq'ing Sunday. I have Monday off, and am hoping to get a big-ish ride in somewhere.
*doffs cap* Thats an impressive list. Your last ones inaccurate though, your hardtail is lighter than your squishy bike, mine are the same weight. Using a quick bit of man maths therefore yours cannot be "too heavy" :p

You forgot the standard IMTB excuse:
The cat needs a perm, or I need to perm the cat.
This excuse is IMTB certified and @Danimal and @herzalot approved (although I don't actually have a cat)

We will also accept "I have to replace my hobnostal defosticator." Your use of turbo encabulator comes close.

Thanks all. I headed home this morn. Made a few wrong turns on my ride and was warned against Santiago
when I stopped for directions ( some one died there two days ago? )
Still got some miles in and got a feel for the area for next time!

It's true..... unfortunately my cat thinks she's a primadonna so the perming happens way too often.

I
I can meet you at Cooks, but if you're planning to park there I don't think you can on weekends anymore. You'd be better parking just off Santiago Canyon Road either on Crystal Canyon Road or Ridgeline, that's were most appear to park and ride from these days. Wherever you decide lmk and I'll meet you there
I’ll park on Ridgeline and meet you at the corner where Live Oaks and ElToro/Santiago meet. What time should I be there “Stomping my feet on the concrete” to get picked up? Lol!

Curious to hear what shape Joplin is in... After seeing the changes to Motorway from the storms, I'd bet Joplin will be wild! :inlove:

Meeting at Jensens? See how I feel in the morning. Been feeling a bit under the weather the last 2 days Sinuses are acting up.
Let you know.
I hear ya' too. Not feeling great either. I'll go tree farm towards Silverado tomorrow and see how it goes. Big thanks to Old-n-In The Way for letting me/us know the gate is closed but the riding is open. - Depends on how I feel in the morning.

We did the Maple-Motorway loop today... No issues other than the 30 degrees and howling winds.

At 7:30 we were the first ones there, and were able to park in the little pull out on the right 1/2 mile before the gate.

Going to ride the flatlands after work and see how the San Joaquin river is flowing after the rains.
And see how the adjustments I did on the Anthem feel.
If you can drive 250 miles by 3:00 pm today, I'll see you on the trail.
Kinda like DDD getting someone to night ride with him.

Front range up and down on Saturday... I'd really like to see how the Gabrielino fared in the recent storms, but I'm not sure the creek will be low enough. Open invitation if anyone is interested. There might even be some snow left up there to play in. @SnakeCharmer and I didn't see any at Inspiration Point, but I'd bet there is still some closer to Markham Saddle.

Extra Credit Option: Make the out and back pavement climb to Mount Wilson (600+ feet) for a chilly spin around the observatory.

Meet at the base of Lower Sam Merrill. 20 something miles... 4500 feet. Whatever pace. Tacos possible.
