Who's Riding Where???

I couldn't decide which direction to ride it, so decided on both. :sneaky: Starting at the north end, go south to the SOT and reverse. 64 mi total to the SOT. One or two bivies; no food resupply en route. Elevation profile shown backwards for tomorrow's leg. Rose to Toad's ride follows most of my route tomorrow – it took some fortitude last year, so this should be interesting. My kit feels super light and I have a load of tasty food and TW. I know where the water refill spots are, have Steripen. Weather looks good overall.

Awesome, @mike ! Hope you do it and give us a nice RR. BTW, I may be coming back up there early August. Maybe I’ll bring my bikepacking stuff.

Heading to Big Bear - Skyline this morning to meet up with @buggravy, @Obsidian and perhaps a special guest or two. 9:00 am at Aspen Glen picnic area. Expected route about 20 miles and about 3000' of climbing (at altitude). Social pace - not a @mtnbikej, @Faust29, @Mikie social pace - actual social pace.

See you there!
Wow, we're gonna have to start calling you Big Bear Chris?

Some of us have to work today. :(

Have fun! :thumbsup::cool:

Heavy smoke in north Lake Tahoe from the Susanville fire is making riding undesirable. When it cleans up I have designs on Big Chief Trail, first run on it this year coming up. Later this week, hopefully...
Can you head west a bit to escape the smoke? I think I suggested it before but I think you'd like Grouse Ridge. It's only an hour from Tahoe.

Yo, ev, the smoke is gone and I assume yesterday's heavy rain gave firefighters a big leg up. I think you did reco GR. It looks nice.

I'm weirdly bent on door-to-door and close rides, and I know I miss a lot of variety because of it. Haven't made it to Lakes Basin or D-ville in all the time I've spent here. :gotnothing:

I really, really want to go fishing but this is not a safe time to be side by side with strangers for an extended period. :(

Soooo, Who's Riding Where TOMORROW? :D
Right here, buddy. Dark start up 10 mi of Road 100, down trail x, up river ST etc to Tahoe Rim Martis section, to Watson Lake, down Big Chief to river trail back to base. It'll be a handful.

Happy Friday in advance, bring it...

That is weird. Some of the best riding in CA close by and you haven't driven 60-90 min to partake? I get that Tahoe has good stuff, but still... :cautious::confused:

Seems like the tuna boats have the safety aspect down. Reduced guest counts, and every person you see coming in or going out on a boat has a mask on. 100%. Impressive, actually. And since it's open air and breezy it seems like that would be pretty safe to me.

I've been out (on a sportboat) since the safety measures were put into place. I am here to tell you that not everyone complies with the mask and social distancing thing. Fisherman (at least California saltwater fisherman) are an odd breed. They are cigarette smokin', Sh!t talkin', pot smokin', beer drinkin' SOBs. It's easy to see where someone's breath is going when they exhale smoke while smoking. It's actually not a safe environment. When the action is fast and furious, it's impossible not to be rubbing up against the next guy or guys who are breathing heavy in your face as they fight their fish, too. Some guys refuse to wear a mask. They pull it up when a crewman comes by and then they pull it back down when he is gone.

Lake fishing? I'm not a fisherman so.........

So... Who's riding where this weekend? Anything good? Huh huh huh? :D

I have a route in mind if nothing else pops up, but that would probably have to be a solo adventure... :whistling:
Thinking of a GE ride.
May not be riding this weekend. Wifey had a hard crash (not on bike) in the bathroom and did some damage to herself. Trip to Kaiser later today after a stupid video phone appointment first.
