What's Cooking?

Sorry, no pictures and no real recipe. Last night we had some home grown prime rib roast. Cook 1/2 hour at 500 and then 3 hours at 250. No seasonings, just meat. My daughter was in 4H and this was from her steer, Winston. I was a bit worried that it might go bad after 3 years in the freezer, but it was great. Thank God for shrink wrap.
We also made some ham, just in case.

Cooked this guy for Christmas.

Dayummm... eating something you named and cared for - that's country!

No pics of the prime rib I made but to quote my son, "This is the best meal I've had this year!" Complete with Yorkshire pudding cause you can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat.

Sounds like our house! Prime rib roast, Yorkshire pudding, asparagus with Hollandaise sauce, mashed potatoes (for my son who loves mashed potatoes even though it is sacrilege with this meal), cherry jello on Boston Lettuce with walnuts...

And homemade pecan pie for desert if you didn't already eat a pound of Christmas cookies!

Mashed potatoes are never a sacrilege to any beef plate. That is what they call it meat and potatoes. :inlove: :p

January 1. Green Bay Packers last game of the regular season. Playing at Detroit (boo, hiss). Only thing better would be the Bears, but hey, we know we have to endure 30 years of badness for every good season.

So what's next? Chili, friends, and good beer!

Mmmmm... 2 1/2 lbs of prime tri-tip, cubed...

1 lb pork sausage (hot) with 1 1/4 lb Italian sausage (deskinned) hot

BonsaiNut chili stock. The result of 2 hours of chopping veggies and drinking Spaten Oktoberfest.

Were you expecting to see an "after" photo? The one with the sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and toasted sour dough bread?

I forgot...
