Uhh clarification Needed

Hey J your post above say Registration on 11/7 email I just got says 11/1 in one place and 11/5 later in the same email

2017 Vision Quest, Counting Coup and Trabuco Challenge Registration Opens Nov. 1st

Registration to the 2017 Vision Quest, Counting Coup and Trabuco Challenge will be opened to the public on Saturday, November 5th at noon.

You are correct......Nov 5th @ Noon.

Registration for 2017 is now open for the priority people. I'll be trying for a spot on the 5th!
I wander how many riders qualify for the early registration (TC participants), and will they take advantage of it?

I'm currently soul searching (VQ vs. CC). I'll figure it out by Friday.

To me, reading the info:

Those that were registered for the 2015 VQ/CC that did not take refunds and stayed registered for 2016 VQ/CC, as well as the 2016 Trabuco Challenge registrants....get Priority Registration. Kinda of a loyalty(thanks for staying with us through the closures).

They are estimating that about 200 spots will open for both events , bu that is if everybody signs up, which they won't. You also cannot use your Priority Registration to sign up your buddy. You will forfeit your fee if you register under the Priority and you were not registered for 2016 VQ/CC.

Finished few weeks ago and like I have said 5 times before never again. Well came home at lunch and signed up for my 6th VQ and my 6th on a single speed.

I am going to try and actually train like I did in the past. Maybe I will finish with a better time this year.

I'm a little bummed the registration opens on a Saturday at noon, as that is right in the middle of my prime ride time for the weekend. Any reason why they moved it to then instead of 8 at night during the week?

I don't know. Probably picked a date and a time....didn't look to see what day it fell on.

BTW....I agree, it is bad timing.

I have told myself in the past that I will one day tackle even just the CC but never broke out of the 30mi max ride with 3-4K of climbing. This will be hard for me, very hard, but I am strongly debating trying to get a spot in the 2017 CC. First hurdle will be discussing with the wife since I will need to train and be absent from helping out with the baby on weekends leading up to it. That part alone will be an accomplishment if I can succeed!

Anyone out there that has done the CC where they were a "30 mile max" rider leading up to the event but trained enough to finish the race?

It's all downhill after the peak.. and if you discount the other descents..?

I think 6 months is a good time frame to train for the event. You can gradually increase fitness and endurance to be ready for the distance and terrain. Any excess weight lost between now and then will also help with the climbs, as well as dialing in nutrition, etc. for ride day.

Also, rides matching the technical nature of the descents, aka Motorway, Holy Jim and downhill sections of the Main Divide (which are not to be taken for granted), and BS/Motorway loop, Maple Springs to the peak and Holy Jim out-and-backs will help you feel more comfortable on event day when you get to put them all together.

Best of luck!
