CC Finishers: 70

So it looks like we had 150 not even show up. Worst of all.....alot of those names on the CC list have done it several times in the past.

Kudos to everyone who came out and rode, whether you finished or not....at least you tried.

We had some really fast riders out there...maybe they were cheating.

And just every year, we had some poachers.....watch out for these wiley riders.

I was pretty embarrassed when they rang the bells for us, and then it was like, "oh no, they're not real racers." That may have been the exact moment that I decided I'd sign up next time. :whistling:

Wow lots of dns, Why do they have Priority Registration now?

Lots of Sally's that didn't want to suffer. :whistling: :p

I don't know what the Priority Registration is...I was not privy to the info or decision making on that one.

Looks like incentive to do the Trabuco Challenge....almost guarantees entry into VQ/CC.

Registration opens up Nov. 7th for 2017 VQ/CC

That way they get something for the money they spent (vs. getting a refund).

I'm more interested in finding out how quickly will the 2017 spring event sell out...... I think they will.

Getting back onto our normal schedule for VQ/CC, I think the event will sell out quickly as it usually does.

"Priority registration for the Saturday, April 8th Vision Quest and Counting Coup and Saturday, May 13th Trabuco Challenge will open to those who competed in the 2016 event on November 1st with open registration to the general public opening on November 7th. An email will be sent out with a code to the 2016 participants to allow them to register during priority registration."

Right, sells out very quickly so this makes it even harder to get in if you did not get in the last event...maybe they want the more serious riders to have first swing at it. They need to bring back the fun rides for us fun guys...like the Toad Festival. seems like everything has to be a race...
OK I'll stop crying now.

I have told myself in the past that I will one day tackle even just the CC but never broke out of the 30mi max ride with 3-4K of climbing. This will be hard for me, very hard, but I am strongly debating trying to get a spot in the 2017 CC. First hurdle will be discussing with the wife since I will need to train and be absent from helping out with the baby on weekends leading up to it. That part alone will be an accomplishment if I can succeed!

Anyone out there that has done the CC where they were a "30 mile max" rider leading up to the event but trained enough to finish the race?

That's gonna suck if I finally decide to give it a try and can't get in. o_O

Also... Are the DNS guys given the opportunity to priority register?

Just ride the route on any other day than race day :) When I used to run distance races I hated race days, because the focus was on the race and not the run (if that makes sense). Now when I bike it is all about the experience versus the time. If I drop time, great, but it is more important to enjoy the ride. I used to run some races where I couldn't walk afterwards - no bueno.

I have thought about this option... Leave the car at Maple Springs as an aid station and have the wife drive me back when finished. I may do that some time even if I am able to register for the actual event.

Like someone else posted above.....it gave incentive for riders to sign up for the Trabuco Challenge, by just about guaranteeing them a spot in next years VQ. There were not that many riders that took that option, so your chances should be about the same.

We stopped the Toad Festival cause participation had dropped nearly 60%.

How about a IMTBTRAILS vision quest...members only

Priority is based on the riders who were signed up for the April 2016 VQ/CC that we postponed.....who signed up for the 2016 Trabuco Challenge.

Those riders who were registered for the April 2016 VQ/CC and just rolled their spot over to the Oct 2016 VQ/CC do not get Priority Reg.

hahaha, they put me on the DNS list when they gave me a full refund per my request when they offered it to everyone. So technically I was not a DNS.

I made up my mind that I am going to try for a 2017 counting coup spot. There's no reason I shouldn't be able to train and get fit for it. If it weren't for this site and the crazy chaps on here doing rides like it on a weekly basis I wouldn't be as motivated. Thanks, I think.

That's awesome! I'm going to try and get a VQ spot for the first time. I blame the peer pressure.
