Snow Sports and/or Surfing

Welp - back to basics...

Had to get the old wax off the board the other day and took a pic of it

I know you are all dying to know how my surfing is going.

Well wait no longer - it's going very, very poorly!

I've been relegated to my biggest boards and I still can't get to my feet in my preferred regular (left foot forward) stance. I tired again today at crowded 1-3' Doheny. I caught about 5 but only got to my feet once. My left leg just won't do it. So I either need to go to knees then up, or go goofy foot, or go to Stand Up Paddleboard (AKA e-bikes for surfers). I'm too stubborn to try the latter, so I'll just keep fumbling around until I find something that works.

And now you know. Carry on.

Good to hear you’re getting out! Keep up the good fight! And yes, Doho can get crowded

Perfect use for an e-bike.
Yep. As much as I'd like to, it's hard to hate on this. For those that don't follow snowboarding, Jeremy Jones basically built his career around the concept of human powered snowboarding, meaning back country snowboarding without the use of snow mobiles and helicopters. The irony of an e-bike to aid human powered snowboarding is undeniable, but as a tool, this is about as cool of a use case as I can conjure up for an e-bike..

In the category of "really bad ideas," we have Lindsey Vonn returning to World Cup Ski Racing starting, well, now.

I do not want to watch her first high speed crash that tears up her limbs or leaves her concussed, as she has experienced and recovered from several times. This in fact is what made Lindsey Vonn perhaps the toughest athlete ever. I cannot think of another athlete who came back from so many horrifying injuries to return to the top step of the podium (which she visited 87 times). The courage it takes to throw yourself down an icy mountain at up to 70 mph in your underwear without regard to your own well being is something very few in this world have experienced - including very few top level athletes. To do so after an agonizing injury and months of painful rehab and training is next level mental strength. And then do it again. And again.

I hope she is amazingly successful and avoids any serious injuries - but honestly, in DH ski racing as in DH mt biking - it's not a matter of "if" it is a matter of "when and how bad." Best wishes Lindsey! Keep the slippery side down!
