Snow Sports and/or Surfing

'Nuff said?

I'm not into the surf scene but are those waves the equivalent to a 12 foot wide bike path on a MTB? :whistling:
In a way. The conditions in the photo are what every surfer wants - just varying by size and power. Some would find those perfect waist-to-shoulder high waves boring. I don't. But I definitely find a 12' wide bike path boring.

I think the mt. bike equivalent of that picture for me would be Crank It Up in Whistler with no braking bumps and damp dirt.

Wait a minute...did this happen while you were trying to enter a dressing room?
Finally! Someone noticed my location when I took the photo! Good eye (so to speak).

No it happened as I said it did - in the same location pictured above (Trail 1 @MolarM). However it was bruising up pretty good when I was at Nordies trying on some pants and waiting for the tailor. Great selfie op with that lighting and mirror!

Does winter backpacking count as a snow sport?

I don't entirely know why, but I've started assembling a winter gear set this year; so far a four-season tent, -20°F sleeping bag, ice axe, glacier glasses, and snowshoes are in the mail. Already had a lot of stuff like parkas and base layers; next some mountaineering boots and pants and I'll be mostly set.

It is a snow activity. I guess you can call suffering in the cold like a beast of burden a sport. I prefer to play in the cold and then sleep in a comfy, warm bed - but more power to ya!

OK let's do it again:
Trail 1 Again 11-11-21.jpg

I decided today that I had been having too much fun and had been catching too many waves on my 7'8" short longboard, so I took out my 6'10" long shortboard. Caught 9 waves, but couldn't milk much out of each wave as they just didn't have enough juice to push my 200 lb self on the smaller equipment. Only the third time I've taken this board out, so it was still good to get some reps on it. I guess I better get with @littlewave in Newps or HB for some pushier waves.

I’ve been itching to get back in the water.. Still got a couple of boards left, just waiting on a new wetsuit.

You guys are going to kill me, but, I still fit in my wet suit from college, and, it only has one hole.
My board, on the other hand, knows I'm too fat for it. I'm also too far from the beach to justify buying a new one, just borrowing boards for now.

I took my oldest and only custom board out for some cruising today. A 9'2" Robert August Saber shaped by Mike Minchinton for little ol' me back in 2000. Even says so on the stringer! Great board!

16 waves. Yup. I counted. 'Twas only 1-3' but what fun! Cloudless sky, no wind, 64° water, mid-tide, good wave shape, light crowd.

Twin fin! Interesting. And full commitment to the front foot placement!

Looks like a fun board that could catch a lot of waves! Go get some!

It’s a very fun board so far, and yes I am trying to go waxless and try something different. Maybe one of these days I can come done to the OC and you can show me some good spots. I rarely ride anything south of Torrance Beach.

Procrastinating my attempt at repairing my microwave this morning…watching the Beaver Creek super G. Travis Ganong’s result is impressive especially since he was the first racer to make it all the way to the finish.

Big bear “opened” Thursday with one lift…I decided I can wait.

Mt. High "opened" as well, with only the slow beginner lift serving "Cruiser." I think they had about three days of snowmaking temps, so they made something out of it. Looks like Wednesday through next weekend is promising from a snowmaking perspective.

Meanwhile, there is a blizzard warning for the higher elevations of... wait for it... Hawaii. I Sh!t you not. 12" and 100 mph winds expected in the higher elevations of the Big Island.

Mt. High got their first 1" of snow today! Wow wow wow! Yes I said inch... BUT it looks like snowmaking temps every night for the next week or so. Then a real pile of about a foot of snow on top of that next week. Here we go!

Is this the kind of storm that brings the Bodhi's out to play?
