Rwanda 50 Mile Ride - 2018

Yes!
Please let us know. I think @Voodoo Tom is going to go down to the event with me.

If we get there on time, and that is the plan, I will sponsor the Tailwinds for this event for anyone who signed up on the imtbtrails team and wears the imtbtrails jersey for the race and podium.

Signed up on team Imtb but no jersey, my Tailwind(s) will be mixed with my bladder in the fridge the night before anyways.

That's awesome! I intend to be standing on the top step of the podium. Of course probably not until everyone leaves for the day. :D

Just so you know....this is not a race, it's a benefit ride. Therefore, the event is not timed and will not have podium finishers. But, by all means, we should all wear our imtbtrails jerseys :-)

Where there’s Strava, there’s always a “race.” Seen some dudes get their panties wadded up on this ride during bottlenecks. They get a reminder of the lack of race from me when huffing and puffing to get by.

Yes... And if anyone wants to ride fast and beat the herd, my suggestion is to go like a bat out of hell from the start line to the top of the Vista DH (5/<1000). The Arroyo Trabuco Trail has been widened and sanitized, so it will handle the initial traffic better, but there will be bottlenecks on the single track descent, as well as the single track climb (Twisted Tire) back to the top of the mesa. If there is a herd in front of you on the Vista DH, give them some room before you start. It's a fun little trail, but probably not as much fun if you're in a conga line.

After that point (top of Twisted Tire), the riders will spread out more, and the rest of the course will handle the traffic a lot better.

@UPSed - And anyone else who plans on a recovery ride on Sunday- Be prepared to clean your drive train on Saturday night. The last part of the course (Bottom of Waterworks back to RSM) is sandy with water crossings. Your shifty bits will get crunchy.

Is Mr. Tom in for the ride itself?
Nope, shoulder still isn't up to par and holding on to the bars for multiple hours isn't going to happen. It's getting better but not there yet. Wife keeps telling me it would probably heal if I stayed off the bike for a while but what does she know? Ortho doc appointment later this week.

Can you hold my beer?
That is @Mikie 's job.
That's my official job guarding the coolers cuzz @Mikie has some tailwindezzz he needs to sell so I'll make sure nobody other than me raids the coolers or else(I'll cast a Voodoo spell and break their sh!t in half). I will personally guarantee the remaining beverages will still be cold upon your return...

Greg and I plan on being there for the post-ride festivities. If it will make y'all feel better, I'll bring award ribbons for those who complete the ride.
Yay! Award ribbons!
