Rwanda 50 Mile Ride - 2018

Not that far. In addition there are water fountains along the way.

Yep... Water fountains in O'Neill (mile 5ish), Caspers, and one at the Canada Vista baseball fields at mile 40ish. The aid stations have usually been very nice and well spaced... water, electrolytes, fruits, bars, etc... There was only one Rwanda 50 that wasn't well stocked and they've done a great job since.

I will do the ride with 2 bottles. If the temps are really cool, I could get away with one. But, I know pretty much every rock along the way... The only way I would take a pack is if it's 100 degrees, and I was really going for a social cruise. The ridge going out to Caspers (and back) can be 10-15 degrees hotter than anywhere else on the course.

Edit: The Canada Vista water fountain isn't on the course. It's just off it... After finishing the Tijeras Creek single track, there's a little climb and a gate on the left through the fence. If you need water at that point, it's there...

Okay Folks.
I just got off the phone with their marketing director. We are going to have an imtbgear vendor booth at the Rwanda event!
Thanks to Jason and Suzanne for their help, big time!

So I would like to do my part to promote this event. Can I count on ALL of yah to register and ride the Rwanda event? Let's rally this with an imtbtrails presence, ride the ride, then drink beer!:whistling:

And again I have a strange clicking noise under power, seems to be in time with the rotation of the pedals. I am of two minds this year: Ignore it, and hope nothing seizes up, or have the BB bearings replaced again.

Is a year reasonable for a cheap Shimano BB? Granted, I've done some dousing of the BB on Monroe, and in a couple other places.

As I've said on the forum before, I normally get a year out of the XT/XTR... Or one ride in Oregon. :D

The RaceFace in the Chameleon lasted 6 months.

Jennifer and I are both registered for the 50 however she may just end up doing the 25. It all depends on how she feels on game day. :)

You didn't hear it from me, :cautious: but the route design makes it very easy to pick any number of miles between 25 and 50... If she'd like something in-between the kids ride and the big kids ride.
Haven’t signed up yet but will be in for my 10th 50. I’m thinking single speed on plus tires will make the star rise climb super fun.

Yeah... I just did that an hour ago with a 2.8 Ikon on back and a 3.0 Trailblazer up front with 32 x 20. I made it, but it was slow going!

I was ready for a flat Bell View spin but we ended up going down Star Rise. :gag:

I’m going with skinny tires and gears for the 50... it’s too flat for the SS.

I’ve done it geared with 2.4 front and 2.25 rear once. All the others have been on the single speed. Yea a few spots that you spin like crazy but not to bad. I’m thinking the plus will make it fun.

Is this an April Fools post?
Nope! Not April fools.
Cathy and I started imtbgear.com and the goal is to carry mountain bike essentials. However, we have only been able to secure Tailwind Nutrition as a retailership.

But as of this morning, both of us are second guessing ourselves as to if we are big enough to attend this event, as all the vendors are announced and there is another energy drink company as the official sponsor. Tailwind is not an energy drink. It's a long endurance fuel.

We have a space available, just wondering if this is the right event for us...
