I had 3 rides in a row about 2 weeks ago when I spotted horned toads. 2 tiny ones, and one the size of my hand. MF'ers are fast.
As odd as it seems, Black Star attracts a Sh!t ton of 909ers.
I can say that I haven't been on B* for at least a decade!
And I always pick up my shell casings.
That seems consistent with a lot of organized religion. He was praying just before injecting a poison into your finger. . .

I assume that there are rattlers and Moccasins out there as well. Which is the most commonly reported venomous species encounter out there? He really is a textbook example, isn't he. Such a pretty animal. I had to wave off a car that probably would have run him over. People out here are so afraid of copperheads, when they really are pretty low on the danger scale. I've been out here 2.5 years now, and even with all the biking, hiking and trail running I do, this is the first adult I've seen.

Well, here's the thing. I have in fact been chased a short distance (15-20 feet) by a pissed off Mojave Green Rattler (and I deserved it). I don't know anything about Copperheads but I do know that some species of venomous snakes on multiple continents will charge after you or even chase you. I was told this about the Mojave Green and I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't experienced it myself.Copperheads. They aren't particularly venomous, and the adults can even bite without injecting venom, but people here freak out about them. According to the Carolinas Poison Center, they receive 10x more calls about copperhead bites than all other snakes combined. I even read a post from a woman on NextDoor who was convinced that a copperhead chased and "attacked" her. What? LOL!
I see tons of rat snakes, and black racers (eastern racers). People don't understand that some snakes can slither faster than you can run.
Holly Molly. Wish I would've known that. My daughter & I pulled into camp with the travel trailer at the Dez. She 10 says Dad!! there's a big rattler right there "points to it". Big green one. We brought Snoopy (Basset hound) she would've tried to play with it. So I round shoveled it. The skin is on my Crocodile Dundee hat. We had butter, garlic sprinkle and season salt. Doesn't taste like chicken. We ate it like corn on the cob but it was boney like fish but very tasty. There were seven pieces, we flipped a coin for the last piece. I cheated.I have in fact been chased a short distance (15-20 feet) by a pissed off Mojave Green Rattler
Looks like a crime scene to me. Surprised there wasn't any yellow tape.

On the news tonight, the headlines might read "Electric scooter dismembered by angry anti-e-bike cyclists".
Hopey beat them to the punch by about 20 years. http://www.hopey.org/catalog.phpIt's like the bike industry is just itching for new problems to solve. Next, we'll have "line assist," technology or, "collision deterrent," systems like our cars.
