Not exactly what I want to see riding back to my truck at Black Star.

Are you one of those OCers from Wisconsin or Iowa by chance?

OC lifer, especially on my dad's side. Grandmother was born & died in OC, never lived anywhere else. Grandfather moved here when he was 12 and never left. Dad was born here and never left other than military. I was born on Camp Pendleton when he was in the military.

aka Flat Billers....

Kinda outdated on this one.. plenty of surf brands and beach folks wearing flat billed hats these days. I personally don’t like them on myself but they are definitely not the current shoobie identifier like they were in the past.

Leaving a bunch of fast food trash behind where you parked is the all time shoobie signal. Nothing bothers me more than the beach visitors who treat it like some festival that will have a cleaning crew sweep through after they leave.

We noticed that in the hotel parking lot as we were checking out. Dump your fast food crap in the parking lot. They charged a lot for the room, I guess the customer was getting even.

Some things never change. I can go out on the lake all winter and spring and no trash to be seen anywhere. But after Memorial Day Weekend, when I go up to the state park I know I will have at least a half bag's worth when I pull into one of my favorite beaches (it is easily accessible from a shoreline trail). I always keep trash bags on the boat... and pack out other peoples' garbage. The worst are the people who dump dirty diapers. I wish I could force them to spend a week cleaning out the park latrines.

P.S. I forgot to call out, in my earlier photo, Fonta Flora Brewery (which you can see in the photo). Fonta Flora is the state MTB trail that runs along Lake James. It is also part of the Mountains to Sea Trail... which when complete will run from the App Mountains all the way to the coast.
