Oh, it’s party every day for the Nuggets. Mama went to lunch with a friend and is still MIA; this is her “ride time.” Take it, mama, because Daddo has plans for Joplin soon! For you or the Nugget??

It was 30 years ago and that was an airplane emergency beacon. I do not know if our system is the same.Mathematically, it makes sense, Ev.
You'd be remiss to throw this out there without some sort of source or data. A motorcyclist on the Divide we spoke with used his and got help in reasonable time (same day, help at the location within hours). Someone else I know was trying to test their unit but activated it instead – they got a call from official SAR in under 15 minutes. Rescue situations seem far too varied to be able to take your claim at face value. TIA for the info.
Not trying to dilute the concept of not needing to be rescued in the first place...
Not the same – a dedicated NOAA sat frequency for PLBs, 406 MHz.It was 30 years ago and that was an airplane emergency beacon. I do not know if our system is the same.

Here's one more from Prague Castle. The downside of this trip is all the amazing food at half the prices we might normally pay and the Christmas markets with the freshly made to order crepes and legit Belgian waffles aren't helping the cause.

Please tell us you had the Prague Goulash and not the fries.
One o' these days I'm gonna get back across the pond.
Finally got around to paying this shop a visit. Neat little spot. Not much of a shop in terms of things to browse and gawk at, but I'm sure they'd do right by you and would be a good spot to have a relationship with. When I walked in the door, before asking if they could show me anything, they let me know there was homemade banana bread and coffee in the back that I could help myself to. They do weekly rides on Saturday mornings, with the first Saturday of the month being a more "nurturing" ride, as they put it, with the last being a more advanced ride, and the ones in the middle just that. I'll definitely do one of their rides once I'm back in the saddle.I met the guys who own Topanga Creek Outfitters and Rogue Journeymen earlier this year at a friend’s wedding .
Topanga Creek is a super cool bike shop that used to be a rehearsal space for the doors and some other bands in-yeah, Topanga. And, Rogue Journeymen is their leather work shop that they started to differentiate themselves from other LBS’.
The shop does Saturday rides each week.
Long story short, they’re rad dudes (and dog) and I’ll be checking in with them next time I need a new bike.
(They did hook me up with these handmade card wallets)
Definitely check them out the next time you ride backbone!

I bought a Timberjack from them. Kind of a modern hippie joint. Very nice crew there though. They reached out several times after the purchase to make sure that I was satisfied. Finally got around to paying this shop a visit. Neat little spot. Yeah, being in the heart of Topanga is a very fitting location for them. Did they have the bike there, or did you just order through them? Seems like the leather working has taken center stage, and the bike business is more service and rentals, though I know they are Pivot and Surly dealers (plus a couple more gravel oriented brands)I bought a Timberjack from them. Oh, and no glamping allowed, strictly tent camping only. We, and by “we” I mean my boys, put a lift kit on the mamas Subi today This is what we do for our wedding anniversary
