It’s good to carry a Voodoo Tom or a PLB/device or a first-aid kit...

Better still is to not crash. Fiddlesticks one might say. Skill, focus, fitness, and judicious decision making don’t come cheap, but they’re easy to carry.

It’s easy for me to recognize risk mitigation because I consciously eschew it sometimes. There have been consequences. So do as I say, not as I do...don’t make me start showin scars. :)

Preaching to the choir, brother!

You must have won something for that right? Tailwind? Free IMTB membership?

It is best to ride with cell phone coverage. A PLB will take quite a while to get you rescued. Of course not needing to invoke rescue is always best. I do not plan on having any crashes in 2020
Happy straight and narrow trails.

Of course having a PLB is better nothing. My friend crashed his airplane on Pinos. It took so long for the beacon to get help he ended up walking out to the top parking lot.

Mathematically, it makes sense, Ev.:thumbsup:

You'd be remiss to throw this out there without some sort of source or data. A motorcyclist on the Divide we spoke with used his and got help in reasonable time (same day, help at the location within hours). Someone else I know was trying to test their unit but activated it instead – they got a call from official SAR in under 15 minutes. Rescue situations seem far too varied to be able to take your claim at face value. TIA for the info.

Not trying to dilute the concept of not needing to be rescued in the first place...
