Mt. Bike Celeb Sightings

Not really a MTB sighting, but I shared the men's bathroom at the Chick-fil-A in Laguna Niguel with Charlie Sheen. His driver was picking up food and Charlie had to use the facilities. For what it's worth, he rides around in a huge friggin' black Maybach limo. Charlie Sheen in Laguna Niguel - who would have thunk it? I should have invited him to go on a bike ride...

Throw some bike racks on that, then we're talking!

Lots of flat surfaces to take a whiff before you "eat mor chiken!"

Hey I have a genuine MTB celeb sighting. Today I met Andrew Herrick, the original CEO of Crank Brothers. He was the #3 Crank "Brother" (before Crank Brothers was sold). He is now the CEO at Intense Cycles, where he has been for the last three years.

We had a nice little chat... in my dentist's office :)

Andrew is a good dude. He's done great things at Intense already. He may or may not have sold me my bike. :whistling:

Not exactly a celebrity sighting, but at the elementary school I teach at, I was looking through some old things in the library. There were some yearbooks and things like that. They were probably about 10 years old. I was flipping through a booklet of drawings that kids had done that listed things they liked to do. I came across one kid who said he liked to ride his bike and his skateboard and then had a picture he'd drawn of himself (I think riding his bike). It was done by Kyle Strait.

I knew he'd gone to the school I teach at so it wasn't a major surprise. I talked to him a couple years later at a race about it and he was real cool.

I had the pleasure of riding behind the curtain this afternoon and at the bottom of an off the menu trail I turned around and who did I see? Richey Schley and Anneke Beerten among a group of 4 riders. I knew one of the guys they were riding with and we agreed the conditions were PRIMO this afternoon. BTW, the OC has some tech goods!

So there are some pro riders in OC this week?

Look who I met on my B.C. bike trip! Not only up for a selfie, but bailed me out big time when I burped my rear tire about 5 turns into 1/2 Nelson. My tube had a hole it in so I walked back up to the start where Tippie was greeting the BC Bike Race folks. And guess who saved my ride??? TIPPIE gave me a tube (that I was able to pay forward to another rider yesterday!).

That's cool. Tippie needs to cheer up!

How was Half Nelson?

I've passed Reggie Miller twice now that I know of in a race.

Passed him at Southridge last round. And, it sure looked like he tossed his gel packet on the ground. I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but that really annoys me.

I honestly don't care much about celebrities. None of them are nearly as good at working on HVACR as I am, that doesn't make me famous.

Then again, pretty sure my knees would go weak if I ran across an astronaut. Seriously.

Not quite a celeb riding sighting (I was the one doing the riding) but I think I crossed paths with Selena Gomez today. If it was her, she was with three other gals. They asked how far it was to the top of the mountain (they were about half way up at that point). "Selena" said to me, "Rest in peace to your legs" and we all giggled as I passed by them.

This thread is a fun read! Cool to read all the sightings/ encounters you have had. My latest have been The Syndicate but only talked to Kathy Sessler who is awesome. Last week was Stefan and Markus from YT who are just as cool as they appear in that video about the beginnings of the company. Talked Ali De Lullo who was staying with Richey Schley when I dropped by borrow those gimbals from Schley. Ali's the man behind the lens and in person. Very humble dude. BTW i work right next door to Crank Bros HQ so I never know who I'm going to run into. Pretty fun!
