This is where I admit I also owned the 2nd-ugliest car ever made.

Gray-ish 1972 AMC Gremlin.:cool::rolleyes: Quite the sleeper as it had a 304 V-8 Jeep engine in it, somewhat meaty tires on the back. I bought it while stationed in Tennessee, drove it back to CA where it disappeared while I was out on the carrier on workups. Looked something like this but primer gray:

I recently saw a beat up Gremlin for sale on the street. Asking price was $35K!

Toss-up between the Yugo and the AMC Pacer.

Assuming Peugeot doesn't enter the contest, that is.
Pontiac Aztec. AMC Matador. Worse than both of your nominees I think. Let's not forget the Cadillac Seville with chopped off trunk.

Didn't the Yugo just look like every other hatchback of the era from the Rabbit to the Fiesta to the Mazda GLC, Chevy Chevette and so on? I know it was considerably worse in performance and reliability, but I think it looked about the same.

Peugot not so bad. Citroen on the other hand...

This reminds me I once had a 72 Chevy Vega with a 427 BBC mounted behind the front seats with a boat v-drive. This was yet another project that seemed like a great idea that I lost thousands of dollars on:cry:...

I once watched a Vega panic-stop for an animal in the road. I then watched it get rear-ended and fold up like an accordion.

After seeing that, I don't stop for anything smaller than my car. :whistling: So far my score is 2 pigeons, 3 cats, 1 porcupine, 1 possum, countless squirrels and other rodents. My car's only been hit once - and that because I stopped to avoid rear-ending someone else.:gag:

Hey, primer gray is all the rage right now. Actually, this car/color is the current object of my lust. Somebody that works in the building where my physical therapist is has one, so I'm seeing it twice a week.

Even though it only had a 1.3 rotary engine
and sequential twin turbos! the FD RX7 was a beast and one of the best handling and prettiest cars around, and fast around the track. Working in the product support/QA dept at Mazda US HQ at the time, it was also hugely complicated under the hood with the spaghetti bowl-like vacuum control lines and wiring to keep the emissions in check. Kept us busy. Still, awesome car!

No fire? I think Vegas were recalled because they were prone to catch fire in a rear collision, I know Pintos were.
