In Other News

I’ve had (2) Fords, a GMC and (3) Toyota’s. None of them ever had to have a major repair or left me stranded. Then again, I don’t “trick out” my vehicles or drive too crazy either.

Never owned a Dodge even though I had access to a family “legacy” discount. Mostly because they are fugly, especially the front end/grill area. Their interiors are finally coming around but they were the worst by far for generations. I’m sure there’s no good reason they are usually last is consumer satisfaction. Probably fake news put out by Ford & GM.

I thought a 6.0 Norstar diesel would make my '07 4x4 Ford van bulletproof, but all it did was burn up the dual batteries and break on road trips (3x). Our Corolla did what that van couldn't. After the last $2300 repair, my mechanic suggested I get out of it while I could. Adios for the last time, Ford. All Toyota and happy now.
Agree with @mike re toyota. I will have my 94 Landcruiser until I die most likely. Built like a tank, wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere. Needs a little cosmetic attention now at 170+k (an old pic below)

And I got this old thing taking up garage space, first year half cab... get it out every couple weeks and realize what a pain it is to drive (little I6 and 3 on the tree). It's been used as intended (beat to hell). Probably keep it for awhile longer, these things are worth stupid money if relatively rust free.

I’d heard there would be a Raptorized version of the Ranger, but that Jalopnik article indicates otherwise. That could be a pretty cool truck if it materializes. My dad has an early nineties (I want to say ‘91) F250 7.3l single cab long bed stick. Its’s such a tank. I love driving that thing, in small doses. I just bought a Tacoma, and I love it, but also have a smaller fun car to keep things exciting. The size of the Tacoma is perfect for us. Driving a full size truck in any sort of daily capacity in SoCal would be draining for me.

That Bronco is dreamy:inlove:

Loved my 76 350 short bed Chevy C10 with 4 on the floor (1st was the creeper). Drove it down from Wa in 2002 no problems. Hate CA smog laws at the time didnt have the $$ and time to rebuilt or swap engine so it would pass smog.. Sold it.. Have a 99 F150 (V8) hate it.. but it was free.. beside all the repairs the only thing I like is that I carry my bike in it..

I'm a classic guy myself!!! Now I'm driving a 73 Nova. Bought a fuel filter for it last week, $2.99!!!!! :whistling:

I grew up a gearhead and was born in to the bowtie family. Up till recent years I couldn’t leave any car factory stock and had to personalize em whether it be performance, suspension, lift kit, looks or whatever. I think I’ve owned at least 50 different vehicles and probably every major brand except Nissan. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.

At this point in life my truck is a tool to do a job and I’m not brand loyal. If it leaves me walking it’s gone. I’m a full-size truck kinda guy. My duramax will tow an apartment building, beat any rice burner in a drag race, and nail down 20+mpg if I behave. May not be the fanciest or most comfy but it’s paid for and I can spend money on bikes instead. @Mikie’s Dodge is a beast too. And for the record @hill^billy’s new Ford is far and away the nicest rig I’ve ever set foot in. See all great tools for the job:thumbsup:.

A fellow bowtie brother!!! Actually in recent years, I've become much more open-minded towards other brands also. I'm even trying to weasel a 67 Mustang from my sister. I already have it in my driveway!!!

Oh yeah!!! :inlove: He ain't lying about the stupid money those things are worth.:coffee:
I had a nice 66 Bronco back in the day that ran like a raped ape but ate throwout bearings like they were going out of style. Pissed me off so bad one time that I started it and stuck a brick on the throttle hoping it would blow up. It didn’t and I sold it to a buddy in 1991 for pennies on the dollar. He still owns it today and that damn 302 still runs strong. Yes I’m an idiot.
