I went out on the front porch to turn on the front porch lights.
I was in shorts and barefoot. It’s dark out, I turned on the lights and I hear like misters or leaves rattling or something like it.

I look down and I’m about a foot and a half from a coiled rattlesnake on my front porch. I yelp and I guess I jumped back, not sure. He did not strike. Went down to the barn and got a Farmers Hoe. Had Cathy hold the flashlight and shoved him off the porch like in shuffle board. Took his head off with the hoe.

I’m pissed at myself for letting my guard down. Our canyon has not really had snakes in it for the last several years. Neighbors up the road have had 4 in their yard this year.

Every night I walk the dogs around the house before I put them in the shed during the summer.

Rattlesnakes change everything you do out side this time of year.

I’m still pissed. That was too close.
Ouch, poor snake but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I’m with you and totally understand. I chose to live in the country and it has always been, “Let live”. But when it comes to on the property, poisonous snakes is the only exception. This last winter I scooped up a rattler in a shovel down by the barn and moved him to the 40 acres next store. On the trail or on the road everything is left alone, but on the property I have 3 dogs, 2 donkeys, and a draft horse. So poisonous snakes on the property unfortunately expire. My Uncle has captured and relocated and have had timber rattlers return, so I don’t take that chance anymore.

We saw something sort of disturbing today during our ride and certainly interesting, in the name of Science.

The sulfur springs in the Cheseboro area have begun to flow again. Something I have only ever seen after a good rain. Yet it's been hot and dry for a few months now.

Thinking it is related to the recent considerable earthquake activity in our state.

Chicken Nugget Nate reports from Rancho Mission Viejo: “Maiden voyage on the [Canyon] Spectral [CF 7.0] was eventful. Washed out the front, front brake rotor sliced my shin pretty good. Chain started throwing over cassette...scratched the frame @ BB but looks to be superficial. Got home and washed the bike and discovered rear wheel was lose, likely causing the chain throw.”

He’s the Nugget who drove his Trek Remedy into the house on his roof rack entering the garage after last year‘s Wildhorse to SART epic. The Remedy survived and now serves back-up duty.

Tell CNN that I said that this is no way to treat a Trek!:D

No flower in Truckee; it's 20 min. down the hill in Reno. Summa Skittles gets an enthusiastic thumbs up from one sativa fan. OG Pebbles hybrid, nice and a bit more laid back.

Happy Friday eve kickoff to your holiday weekend! :)

I have no idea what ANY of this means. (shrugging shoulders emoji).

I've been racing dirt bikes in the desert for 30 years and I've only killed one rattlesnake. It's rare that I see one in the desert. The snake was in camp mid-summer near Ridgecrest with many kids nearby. I couldn't even leave to get a proper shot gun. I killed it with a hammer that I used for setting up my satellite dish.- Blackstar/Chino Hills? Heck I'm surprised if I don't see a rattler on a typical ride! I'm glad you didn't get bit @Mikie !

Mostly self-explanatory. Let us know if you need additional assistance. :D
Absolutely not self explanatory. But on this topic, I prefer blissful ignorance.

I will repeat the words and see if I am truly the only one who has no idea what you are talking about, other than it's related to pot smoking:

I'd be suspicious of river guides who weren't

I'm enjoying some Black Mamba Kush via my dry-herb vape, the Fury 2.
Flower Power!

Let me take a crack at this one...refer to my input below in bold.

"Bigger piece the one on the right checks out as expected – dreamily aka blissful. The small binger the one on the left with the Ergonomic lip flange goes with the ten essentials the ten items a rider would haul on a ride to address mechanical issues and to hydrate, fuel, and shelter. The floaty canister JL threw in the one in the middle; seems the river guides around here are...happy.

No flower cannabis (all subsequent euphemisms are in kind) in Truckee; it's 20 min. down the hill in Reno. Summa Skittles candy is dandy gets an enthusiastic thumbs up  from one sativa fan mike. OG original gangster Pebbles [stone] clast size specification larger than gravel but smaller than cobble hybrid a genetic combination of sativa strains (uppity energetic features) and indica strains (if ya wanna become a vegetable and play video games as an adult, this is the one you puff [smoke], nice and a bit more laid back."
Don’t you ever talk to your students?
