Why would you watch the Angels on TV when you can drive up Int 5 and attend home games?

Being at an MLB game is magical.

Just for you, Snake Man!

My neighbor threw out 2 perfectly good beach cruisers yesterday. I thought, dang these are pretty nice to toss. Was going to grab them and offer to anyone that is interested, then realized I don't have room to even hold for a few days. Bummer, coulda been good freebie for someone. :(
They might still be out there though...

I drove by 2 gas stations last night over by John Wayne Airport.....diesel was $4.35 a gallon. Drove passed the station I usually use just off Chapman/55...... $3.25 a gallon. Holy crap. That would have been $26 extra to fill my tank.

Highway robbery.
Beach prices...like ski town prices

On my drive to Yosemite I fill up at Nevada state line, then make Yo and back to stateline without buying CA gas. :sneaky:

Something scary happened right in front of me today as my work day was ending.

A large furniture delivery type truck (presumably parked up the road) that had slipped out of gear and was free rolling backwards down a slight grade in downtown Glendale. The light on my side had just turned red so I did not progress into the intersection to turn left which would have been right in the path of the rolling truck. The light on the other side had turned green and cars were starting to roll forward to make a left but luckily they saw the truck coming through the intersection so nobody was hit. The truck rolled through the intersection and slammed hard into a large traffic light stand which surprisingly, stopped the truck. I was expecting it to blow right over that light stand and into the commercial building behind it. A girl had just walked passed the light stand when it was struck. She had cleared it by 5 feet when the impact occurred, which was LOUD. The sound made her jump up like a rabbit. If that truck had rolled through the intersection when the light was green for cross traffic, it would have been deadly with multiple cars involved. Needless to say, I was shaken. The intersection was totally blocked by the huge truck and there was considerable traffic, like always there. The lights immediately started flashing red and I think a set of lights fell off of the post at impact. Yikes!

Whoa geez! Divine intervention, glad no one was hurt or worse!

Wow - scary sheet right there. Glad the timing came out in everyone's favor. The universe is a mystery as to why there's tragedy sometimes and near misses other times.

Also The Trial is scheduled to begin in Oct.

Thanks, Steve. Good to see progress in HJ. The new bridges at the two former AZ crossings, including shown, are supposed to be finished late summer/early fall. Moot point for would-be canyon users during area and trail closure. At least they don't have to work around the public...

I don't want to ever hear any Sh!t from anyone wondering why on many rides I pack heat. Yes, it is mostly protection from 4 legged varmints, but I don't rule out 2 legged varmints either. That guy would be dead if he shot at me.
I have mixed feelings about firearms on the trail. Mostly, I don't want my friends in trouble for being involved in a shooting. But I have chosen to carry in the odd situation. Solo, I'd carry bear spray at most. The most likely use of a firearm IMO will be to put down an animal that's been injured by a car. Doing it with a big rock (or your car) works, but it's a hard thing for most people to do, and it really sucks when you have to.

My family did a lot of trail riding when I was growing up(Rangers) , once on a big ride my mom and her horse went over the side of a very steep embankment, she was ok, the horse was not and had to be put down immedietly. It was hard for my step dad shoot the animal, but such is life.:(

Totally understand Brothah! I would much rather have you with mixed feelings then us being dead. As a person with a CCW, I know the gravity of the responsibility of the carry. The chances of me ever having to activate use of a fire arm is like winning the Lotto as far as probability. But the guy who luckily only got shot in the hand... what do you think he feels now about that probability. :-) Cheers Amigo! Miss you!

I read somewhere not long ago that Los Angeles is one of only two major cities in the world that has a major wildlife population in it's boundaries. Somewhat related, but we had 2 llamas and a pig killed by a mountain lion in our neighborhood last week, just a stone's throw from our house. The "light agricultural" zoning in our neighborhood was never changed from way back when, and there's one house that keeps (kept) livestock as pets.
