If I am correct in my diagnosis then I might be able to fix our dryer that stopped igniting the gas/heat for $24.

…plus your billing rate divided by your multiplier per hour of labor. It may be cheaper for you to call a shop and work on finance projects while he/she/they fix the drier. What’s most valuable, though, is the knowledge you gain from the new handy-man experience.

Still looking for the missing hiker... This is the first time they've released any information about his probable route. @SnakeCharmer and I saw one of the searchers' supply chests on the upper section of Brown Mountain yesterday.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, his intended route goes through a section of trail that isn't trail anymore...

So up Millard Creek trail to Tom Sloan Saddle, then up and over Brown Mountain dropping out at the KB TH, then down Brown Mtn FR to Millard Canyon FR.

After taking the family to HB this morning (I swear I saw you @herzalot on the HB pier but it was from afar) I came home to the last part I needed. Took my time replacing the thermal fuse and heating element, put it all back together, and success! Not only are my eyebrows intact but it heats again.

Hmm we have the same washer and dryer(though ours hammered looking) and I just finished repairs on the washer earlier this afternoon. Good news is no more lake in my garage.

I disconnected our auto bleach dispenser last year to “fix” a problem with that drainage getting gunked up and causing some water to spill onto the garage floor.

I was indeed at the HB pier today with wife and child. I was carrying two bags of treasures from HSS. Around 11:30.

Chargers for crap are t0tally out of control!! o_O There are so many types......and I actually use them from daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. WTF!!!
I may be an exception though.

1) Apple, used daily.
2) micro usb, used often.
3) USB C, used daily ( does the large apple charger for the laptop count separately?? )
4) SRAM axs battery, used monthly or more ( why couldn't they use a standard..oh no that's too easy, its charger does plug into a USC-C so need that charger and a usb-c. )
5) Wahoo heart rate monitor, just arrived and it has its own type of charger, go figure.
5) random charger for accessory item.
6) Electric Drill charger ( use once per year)
7) Dyson Vacuum, has it's own.

8) iWatch charger, thankfully we no longer have an iWatch, way too distracting.
9) electric toothbrush charger. Gotta have pearly whites!

And if you have an EV or eBike add another type, or three!
Now, what did I miss..... :Roflmao ( yep, just added #9 )

1. Wireless charger for the Samsung S22 sitting on the desk.
2. Charger for the laptop, always plugged in unless I take it to work (5 times in the last three years)
3. USB micro for the various bike lights, on the rare occasion I need to charge them.
4. ? Nothing else that I can think of that isn't already plugged in and dedicated.

My drill(s) is(are) plug in type, not cordless. Ditto vacuum. No electronic bike shifting.

I like my s22! but also have the iPhone for work. Just FYI, IMO iPhones suck compared to Android for ease of use.

Good job!
A few years ago the Thermal Fuse was the cause of my water heater no longer heating. $15, a couple hours labor and all was good. Common and easy fix if you know where to look!
I gained a few years of use, then it started to leak, so had no choice. New water heater was installed, and ungraded from the the low end one the previous owner installed.

Thankfully I didn't have to change it to electric heating. That would have required major cost and effort to bring the power in.

I need some education. What is a thermal fuse?

A thermal Fuse is a fuse placed to break current if the temperature rises too high. So if for some reason the fire/heating on the water heater doesn't stop and the temp rises too far it will break the power to shut off the gas, so it doesn't blow. Works just like a fuse for current, but temperature will trigger it instead of current/voltage.

They're a good safety net, but do have a life span. So once bad, replace it.
