Woohoo! First time back at Greer post-paw and I sure missed that place!

1:35 with Smashy and the usual Overdrive/Mouse/Distortion/Insidious/TMB lap. Bikes are yummy!

Also, frickin’ GG and their awesome metal bikes that they abandoned for plastic! J/K...I’m sure the new ones are even better

We were out there as well today, 0715 start time = great climbing weather. Greer never disappoints and I could tell they continue to maintain the trails. Still shocked that there can be 100-150 cars out there and you never run into people anywhere but the trailheads. We had a guy guy OTB on the Insidious drop in so shut it short a bit. It's no Downieville but it will due in a pinch.

Quick ride this morning with @theProfessor. His choice....Maple Springs/Santiago Peak/Motorway. 7:00am start was too late.

Paved part of Maple Springs went quickly. The climb to 4 Corners felt like it went by in good time, but we were pretty slow. Started to get buggy about 1 mile from 4 Corners. Finally caved in a put the bug net on at Modjeska Peak. 1:13 to the peak and back.

Back across Main Divide, it was warming up. The climb past Bedford was just hot, and the bugs were relentless.

The Professor headed out ahead me through the last powderpuff section after Bedford. Last time we did this route, he got wonky in the 6" of silt and hit the deck. Different day, same result. This time he didn't make it nearly as far before he was tasting dirt. No harm, No foul.

Let Josh lead down Motorway....he's getting faster and more confident. Was fun to follow him down.

Good time out on the mountain today.

I wish I had more time to do these type of rides. Kids are getting older though so hopefully sooner than later.

Dig your glasses!

Lol, great pics!

The lassie took the new-to-her bike down Big Chief. I went along.

Up FR 06 from the bottom. First, a stop at Watson Lake.

Next up, the Chief’s goods. She was a little tentative without cheater travel, but is learning how a 120 mm 29er works. The new PNW dropper and Loam lever are the cat’s meow by all indications. Bike worked well.

The rock spine seems like the standard tricky section of the entire trail. I see riders hanging out there a lot, gawking or whatever.

I rolled through it and thought, wow, trickier than I recall. The weez was up for trying it, which got my attention. It’s easily the trickiest thing she has ever tried, and with potential failure penalty. The two serious tries she gave it were so close to success. She was doing everything perfectly. But she just got wigged and bailed.

I was spotting, but two spotters would really be needed. She survived one sketchy bail off the side and we moved on. Damn proud riding on a new bike. By a rider who doesn’t put much time into the activity.

Railed it down to the truck, drove the half hour back to base, hosed off the bikes, drank a beer and toasted my babe to the good life.

Happy weekend to you and yours!

Sounds like one of the days we live for. Nice reporting.

I rode my bike in .... Moab!
We were close to a week in Moab. Aside from enjoying the wonders of Arches and Canyonlands NP, we got a taste of the mountainbiking there: LOVED IT. Can i please live there??
First day of riding was the MOAB Brand trails, while riding up over the beautiful paved bike trail (hint hint OC cities: pave more trails alongside roads!!!) to the trailhead, we enjoyed the scenery. From the trailhead we did Bar-M to Circle-O (3.5 miles of slickrock up and down), then Rusty single track back to Moab, flying down the hill.
Second day of riding was starting from MOAB Brand trailhead, heading to the Klonzo brands using the Zephyr singletrack/fireroad connection. The Klonzo trails were nirvana. The closest resemble would probably be the San Clemente single tracks, but then better and more scenic (plus some slickrock!)
Third day was the Navajo Rock loop using the Outerbike shuttle to get there. This was our highlight, we especially loved the Mesa northern part

What we live for...

Well done.

It was toasty in Orange today....so I waited til the afternoon to head out. Ok, not really.....had to work on a few bikes in the garage.

Figured it would be cooler by the coast. I have been hitting up El Moro/LCWP, but today decided to go to Aliso. If it was too warm, i'd just do a quicky.

Headed up Meadows to start....it was good except for the dad with no helmet coming down on an ebike....followed by his 2 12'ish year old boys....on ebikes. No dabs for me. Over and down Mentally Sensitive....getting rutted and loose.....soooo fun. Up Mathis to TOW.....turned around headed back down to Lynx. Hadn't been down this for a long time....let alone on the squishy bike. Lot rougher than I remembered. Got to the bottom and started back up Wood Canyon to Cholla. Ran into @Stubborn Approach chatted with him up to Cholla, then on my own up and over to Rock-It. Fun run down.

Good times out there. Temps were actually really nice. Stayed out til dark.

Kick......Ass. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Harding up to the Point of No Return or thereabouts 13 miles 2,795 feet

Only saw one other rider. He was on a fully rigid bike.

Wasn't feeling lively going up to Laurel Springs, But after that got 2 PRs

When I was driving out, towards the end of Modjeska Canyon Road, I encountered a young deer. I came to a stop and had to sit there for an extended period of time while it was figuring out what to do next. Also on the way down Harding, had to take evasive action to avoid running over a young tarantula. I can go to sleep tonight with a clear conscience. :)

I can top that.. rode to Fullerton high school... then to car wash.. then back home... 1.4 miles!!

before that.. did carbon canyon.. its in great shape.. bit loose but all brushed back.. the singles tracks ie raptor, sidewinder, bovinian delight are all clear and fast... South ridge is super wide .. bane ridge is speedfest.. like mach one but single track... wish I could ride today too.. lets see if fully loop is available...

Rode up the Truckee River to the Donner Lake Rim Trail area. This is a fantastic area for low-commitment trails and spectacular scenery.

Started on the east end and ascended continuously.

DLRT10-8_1.jpg

At the Drifter hut I did a new-to-me dirt loop containing Hawk's Peak summit and Motherlode Trail, a black one that was pretty blue.

Andromeda is the only trail that uses the same name in summer. It's a dirt road. The Far Side is actually DLRT and I'm OK Euer OK is Motherlode. Simple, eh?

DLRT10-8_3.jpg

DLRT10-8_2.jpg

Easy miles downriver riding back to base. 6 hours, 42 miles, and less than 4000' ascent.

Put DLRT on your list! This new-ish network puts the Flume to shame, IMO. Fun ups and downs, many access points, good for all abilities, stunning area.

Out and back to Old Camp with the single speed dynamic duo... @horsebikerider and @mtnbikej . First ride back since my intense training program in Buffalo. Hmmmm... Five days of beer, pizza, wings, subs, fish fries, Chiavetta's chicken (WNY thing...) Tim Horton's donuts, Souvlaki for breakfast. I may have an idea why my heart rate was quite a bit higher than when I did the same ride last week. :p

Good news! There is now an opening big enough for an e-bike in the first barrier on STT. Yep... Someone cut the barrier and made an opening. Too small for a moto, and I've never seen a mountain biker have any trouble lifting a bike over.

IMG_2668.jpeg

Old Camp offered a decent view of the setting sun...

@horsebikerider spotted this beauty stretched across the trail:

While I was in WNY, @mtnbikej took my fork apart and made it smooth and bouncy again... The difference was quite noticeable!

Good times out at Old Camp last night. Great temps. Legs felt good. Social pace with @horsebikerider and @Faust29

Suz knocked out another bigger ride on the SS.

At Old Camp she said she was done....legs were gone. We discussed route options....down Luge or climb back up to Modjeska Grade. She said she wanted to go down the Luge as it was shorter. As we approached the Luge on the way down, she asked how much climbing was left if we went back to The Grade. She changed direction at the Luge and climbed up.

We were welcomed by a great sunset.

Only 1 large group of riders out.

1 big hairy spider and the rattlesnake mentioned above was all the critters.
