I Rode My Bike Today...

Details, mister!

And 38 miles at 170' per mile? Get the F@ck outta here with your tales of tired legs... o_O
Probably my worst Floop crash. Or would that be my best? IDK. Anyway I'm sharing that story on the climb to Troy Lee this weekend. Will you be joining in?
Ironically I wear a Troy Lee helmet with mips. It did its job when my head met the ground. I'm not sure it still says TLD on the side though, I think it just says __D.

Blackstar Tree Farm to Beeks 17.5 miles 2,224 feet

6:00 PM start. Encountered a group of 4 other riders, a baby rattlesnake and a few tarantulas. It was 62 degrees in the beginning and dropped to 44 degrees. With the wind chill it felt more like 39 degrees. I had brought a windbreaker and some lightly insulated gloves. Next time I'm going to show B* more respect.
Enjoyable ride. :)

Today was Encinal to Mishe Mokwa and back on Backbone. This was the first trail I rode after my pulmonary embolism 10 years ago. I remember a few sections that were pretty tough to climb but not so much anymore. One spot in particular I remember climbing in my granny which was 22×32 on 26" wheels. Today I was in my 30×28 on 29" wheels. I guess the saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" holds true here.

The trail is in great condition. Only one group of friendly hikers and 3 ebikes who were friendly as well.

That’s a nice ride. One I need to go back to soon, in fact.

I need to head out your way for a ride....

Old Camp out and back with @mtnbikej ... Only a couple other riders out tonight. There were almost as many bi-planes buzzing the Luge flag. I'm going to be off the bike for a few days, so I swapped out the rear cog on the single speed for a smaller one. Suffering is fun! :D

No E-Moto sightings...

Had a nice solo Pinos/McGill ride this morning. I kinda rode my bike as an SS today as my derailer tried to eat a large stick last wknd so it must be bent or something, she wouldn’t shift into the easy gear w/o the chain jumping behind the big ring and the hub:facepalm:
Only one other rider on the trail, and one hiker, oh and a car near the top, just before the first log jumpo_O! Someone smashed in the windows and beat it up pretty good, otherwise it was a newer vehicle, there was a guy who looked homeless, (ripped clothes and all) who was wrenching on the motor...WTFart is going on here:cautious:
Anyways, great ride to the 9000ft peak for stunning views...I love it up there!:inlove: Bikes are fun:inlove::inlove::inlove:

That's awesome!!! I've ridden above 9k feet; there ain't no air in that air.

Woohoo! First time back at Greer post-paw and I sure missed that place!

1:35 with Smashy and the usual Overdrive/Mouse/Distortion/Insidious/TMB lap. Bikes are yummy!

Also, frickin’ GG and their awesome metal bikes that they abandoned for plastic! J/K...I’m sure the new ones are even better

Three Amigos rode today on the Backbone trail (Encinal Cyn to Mishe Mokwe and back).

HardTail HammerFest with @Voodoo Tom. @buggravy carved the trails as well on his Smash but he will join in on the HTHF rides soon enough.

I love the pedaling efficiency of a HT frame. Feels so good to push hard and the return for the effort is uplifting. The lack of pedal strikes is a bonus.

Perfect temps, nice views of the Pacific, good trail conditions. Low weekend traffic which was nice. No pics, was having too much fun riding!

Garmin says:
19.88 miles (I thought it said 19.99 miles initially)
2270' gain
9.0 mph av speed
28.5 mph max speed
1368 calories

Yeah no pics from me either cause I was too busy chasing some snake in the grass who was haulin azz. Methinks @SnakeCharmer has made some changes to his diet and lifestyle, or his water was spiked with something, or he had a hidden battery, or that beer he drank last night was really frikkin good or maybe Voodoo has just been drinking too much damn beer cause I had a helluva time keeping up with him. Sorry about the pace @buggravy but when somebody takes off in front of me I'm gonna try and chase em. Matt you really held your own today pedaling a big boy bike while sssnakes & I cheated with hardtails. Speaking of hardtails I really had fun riding mine today and I don't know why I don't do more trail rides on it. That bald ass tire loose & sketchy dance routine is fun.

No worries, the pace was good. I'm still trying to push myself every ride, so trying to keep up with you guys was fun. It was kind of bizarro world though, as I was more or less able to keep up with you hardtail hooligans on the climbs, but then got dropped on the descents.

Fun day out there today with a small but mighty crew. My newfound desire to get more pics of my rides also went by the wayside today. A brisk pace and killer views meant it was just about the experience and not the memorialization of the event. It was also a good reminder that this is a ride that I need to put into regular rotation since it's so close to home, and the abundance of loose flowy downhill is exactly what I need to work most on. Rad day. Bikes: fun.

The HTHFs sound fun. A bit of perkiness is exciting!
