Sorry for the cross post. :whistling:
Rwanda was great this year! Considering the course was mostly full of sand, freshly graded roads and a lot of water crossings I think I did pretty good. There was one water crossing that was just a little too deep so I walked through it both times. Of course my feet got wet but it didn't bother me at all. Drive train got a little noisy but nothing worse than I've had before.

It was a stressful week for me this past week and that messed up my sleep pattern which left me feeling lousy. That played a big part in my last minute decision to not participate in the OC event. So, I slept in and the wife made a wonderful breakfast that we ate together in peace. We decided last night that we were going to have a relaxing morning to hopefully help take the edge off, and it did. I was feeling a bit refreshed so I jumped on my bike at about 9:40 and set off for a local spin. Again, too much going lately to ride regularly but I needed a solid ride for peace of mine so I pushed it and that was a bit much. I was surprised at how spent I was at the top of a big climb that I usually blow through, comparatively. At the top of the big climb, I still had a few miles and a few hundred feet to go and it was rough. I was out there for about 3 hours including rest stops and finished with 19 miles and 3600’. Toured the San Raphael Hills and then rolled through residential areas to access Verdugo Mtn across the canyon. A few hours after my return, my bad knee became inflamed and I am currently icing it. But I had a wonderful time and I am glad I went. Foggy the entire ride which kept me from overheating.

Well Ssnakes, I’m glad you got out and got to reset! I think many athletes are good about knowing how to shake off the sh!t! Here’s to a smoother upcoming week

Yup - I sure did! I was gonna show the JennifEds some standard Aliso fare, but after eating breakfast, they opted to flee the County back to the safety of wherever they live.

So my buddy Kevin texts "WLW?" Sounds like the kind of ride my non-riding self needs. So that's what we did - Whiting-Luge-Whiting. Glorious riding weather. 10, 472 trail users on Borrego, as expected. It's really getting bad in there. Kevin says it's even crowded on weekdays now. Could be all of the new high density housing recently constructed in Irvine, Laguna Hills and Mission Viejo. Lots of not English being spoken. :gotnothing:

Nothing to report. Visibility on The Luge is a little iffy in spots due to vegetation, but that's true everywhere right now. All in all, a fun ride.

My eighth ride in nine days was a short trip around Cheeseboro with Jennifer on our way home from the OC. Overcast skies, cool temps, horse apples and a lot of sand. Another fun day on the bike.

Even though I skipped a day I think this is my biggest vacation week yet with 348 miles and 40,756 feet of elevation. I know. Miles to elevation is pretty weak. What can I say? I'm a roadie. :whistling:

I hope the rashes don't return... :whistling::D

I rode my bike today, crashed and scratched my frame dammit. :bang: I wasn't going to ride but at the last minute I decided to do a quick solo lap. Dartmoor to boat road, out to bommer. Once at Bommer I ran into a couple that were having flat tires issues so I offered to help with giving them my spare tube. They weren't running tubeless so I figured it would be an easy fix but nope. That spare tube I had in my pack must have had a hole in it somehow. Bummer because they were parked at ridge park. There wasn't much I could do to help them so I carried on. After that I started to pedal over to OE but once I got there decided against it and head back to TnA. Took a quick break before droppin in and then WAS having pretty good run until the last roller. There's a high left line that puts you in more directly into said roller. It's off camber and I stupidly grabbed some brake which made my rear tire slide off of it. That set me up wonky into the roller so I hesitated. Bad idea because I tipped over to the right side of it. As I'm falling into the bushes I hear scraaaaapppppe and my bike is dragging along the rocks. I landed in the bushes but my leg was caught somehow between the saddle and seat tube. That didn't feel good but luckily it didn't break my leg. I hope it is ok regardless. Feels like I bruised it and I can walk normally with very little pain. Anyways the video is below. Definitely not stoked right now and that shook me up pretty good. :( I'm gonna go watch some WC racing now.

I was gonna ride this afternoon, but had to deal with family brunch this morning.

By 11:00 had 2 ride invites. The first was rolling while I was stuffing my face....so no go.

The Professor wanted to ride and mentioned a 5:00 meet time for a San Juan ride. It would be a dusk ascent with a night time descent.

Well the time changed a little bit and we got out earlier, so no lights would be needed. Josh set the pace going up. He cleaned all the techy spots we worked on last week. Only a few other users out there. My legs were hit and miss.....one minute they felt good, the next not so much, then back to feeling good.

Nice breeze blowing at Cocktail Rock. Fun run back down.

Good times.

Been out and about a bit the last few weeks but mostly stuff that hasn't been much worth talking about. I've been avoiding one of my loops due to school holidays and the subsequent crowds making one part a pain to get through. Schools back so I decided to check it out again. Glad I did, local woods are all greening up nicely!

Been off the bike for a bit - visiting family in North Carolina. Went hiking in a state park outside of Charlotte, and talked up a guy who was mountain biking on some trails there. Good news is he's coming out to SoCal to visit, and I offered to take him on some trails! ...though once I sent him some trail photos he started to freak out about the elevation numbers. Then I told him about shuttle options, and he perked right back up again!

Missed the Rwanda ride, but did at least get out into the mountains yesterday. Was pretty sore from running on Friday, so was just a "standard" Harding ride. Hard to maintain speed on the downhill because the mustard kept the sightlines to nill. Once I got below the springs, there was a biker or hiker behind every bloom :)

Woke up late yesterday, got up and watched UCI DH World Cup Mens and Women and then decided I wanted to go for a ride but didn’t want to go to Floop, so I rode to Powder Canyon from the house. Some sections are overgrown and there were so many bugs, I was getting irritated because I couldn’t shake them off.

Rode this Yeti SB100 demo around Tapia yesterday. After letting me down on the ride for Rwanda I decided to keep it one more day for a redemption ride.
Too bad my legs were still sore from the day before but the bike still rode like a scalded cat.
I can definitely see this bike replacing my Epic.

Well you’ve already seen the one @AKAKTM listed so hurry up and sell a kidney or something on the black market. The 4.5 I demoed a while back was a riot and I’d imagine the sb100 is also. My wife will shoot me right between the eyes if I show up with another Yeti after my 5.5 episode. Lucky for me there’s a new Ibis Ripley gonna be announced tomorrow and my wifey loves them and already gave me the green light as long as I have a Voodoo yard sale first.

Not that I'm in the market for anything right now but I'm really hoping the Ripley V4 fits. Vince from JRA rode it this weekend and says it's basically a short travel Ripmo. He'll have a demo shortly.

Marshall, Itchy scratchy , Webb canyon loop this morning. Marshall was good, the jumpline sweet but Itchy was a bust. Major overgrowth, could barely find our way through and I know the trail pretty good. In a couple weeks its gonna be long gone unless I can get someone to brush it with me. The good thing is the bushes are so tall there will be quite a few cool tunneled sections if it gets done. Webb middle my favorite route is OG too! Did not even attempt it. Went back to the left trail down and it had been worked and was the best I had seen it. Very fun. T-2 rocked today.

Yesterday... The Professor and I planned on riding to Old Camp and then down the Luge, but the weather and mustard had other ideas. The ground wasn't bad, but the mustard was soaking wet, and we had to fight our way through it. We weren't even to F-U Hill and the Professor pulled the plug on the Old Camp idea. At least that's what I think he said. It was hard to understand him with a mouthful of mustard. :p Wet, soaked and frozen we swallowed our pride and dropped down the Luge... A whopping 8 mile ride. At least it was on the single speed for a little extra suffering.

Today... @mtnbikej and I went for a "quick" Maple-Motorway loop. I say quick, because it was a lot quicker than we were in the winter, but it wasn't as quick as we'll (hopefully) get during the summer. All of the sediment has been scraped off of Maple Springs, and the rock fall has been cleared. That means the gate is open for the 4x4 knuckleheads. Thankfully we only saw a couple of people on the pavement section, and a worker installing moto barriers on Main Divide. Main Divide is getting packed down from all of the workers, so there were solid lines in most areas. It's losing its loose rocky face that it wore in the winter. Hmmmmm... Someone had me lead down Motorway- probably to clear the path through the overgrowth. :cautious: And overgrown it was... But in a really neat way. I've never seen so many colors on the Motorway. Reds, Purples, Yellows, Silver, and all of the rest. It was really cool- when we weren't trying to find the trail bed. :p

First time I've done the loop on the single speed since last fall. I'd forgotten how smooth it is. No clank-clank from the derailleur and the cassette. Just tires on dirt... :inlove:

Fun run. Today more than yesterday!
