I Rode My Bike Today...

Quick Hakuna Matata ride this morning... I took the Tin Lizard out with the intention of riding the pavement down to Waterworks. A couple miles in, though, the dirt called, and I ended up riding the Tijeras Creek Trail most of the way. Fast and flowy...

After one Waterworks descent and Escalator climb, I thought about another one... And then another, and then another... Next thing I knew I was looking at possibly having 4 Waterworks descents from home in under an hour. I hit the bottom of the last descent at 58 minutes. It doesn't mean anything, but it felt good to hammer a little... I ended up doing two DHs from the water authority entrance and two DHs from the Antonio entrance. What a riot. With the improvements and added length, it is a much better trail than it was in the past. Me likey.

I took it a little easier on the way back and ended up climbing Chiquita Ridge by Coto de Caza...

22 miles and 22o0 feet...

Brilliant day at hard harding.. but after first few switchbacks..grade gets easier...must be over 7 years since i last rode harding... why wait so long? Oh yeah almost died last time... i guess i am in better shape... pre strava days...
Patches if poppies..
Green..
Just gorgeius out there..
Saw only two riders..
One lost phone
Seat would not go down..
No rear break
But an awesome ride!

I love my free mondays...

Harding today
What a contrast.. both so good so different

A very nice phone was left at 4 corners today.. 1030 or so. I tried to contact the owners friends but could not open up the phone.. i wasnt sure if i should leave it or take it n try to find owner.. passed two women on harding ..they were coming down.. me up..thought maybe theyre phone? Not sure if i did the right thing by leavin it there.. battery still good so..
If u know anyone w missing phone at 4 corners harding maples... its still there ...
It was Erin Machan's.....she rode back up and found it :-). I'm sure that she is very grateful that you left it.

Yesterday, I rode with @scan and a friend from Idaho. The mustards around Cheseboro are topping 8 feet and they are dense.

I did some recon across the freeway before we met to see if New Millennium is open. Im gonna say no, considering that a bike couldn't possibly get through this mustard tunnel of darkness (at the dog park).

Wow, that's gnarly. According to reports on Trailforks, there is a guy that is currently clearing the trail, and is making his way down to the BP trail head as opposed to starting at it. Supposedly it's only 100 yards of that mess left, but I don't know that I'd want to wade through that snake infested mess to get to the clear section. And when I rode the LV Downhill a few weeks ago it was a mess in sections as well, so you get it on both ends unless it has been worked on.

Got 2/3 Exploration and an hour at Skypark (Arrow, Comet, and Jumpline x 2) yesterday AM...fantastic up there right now.

Exploration (the part I rode) was about 95 percent clear, with a few rideable snow patches down low and up high. A few trees down as well but not overly flow-killing. Bottom gate is now open...
Thanks for the update... Explo is one of my summertime go-tos!

Yesterday was another great day with Jennifer. With her new lung power I'm thinking I may have to push a little harder to keep up with her once she gets back into shape.
Just some fire road and a couple local singletracks.
21.5 miles and 3089' for her
30.3 and 5075' for him

If you have the time/inclination it's a great technical climb as well. But that will definitely eat up the day...

Oh yeah...I always try to climb it...definitely less boring on the climb for me...some HAB but worth it!

Also, at Skypark, looks like they are making a new line branching off the bottom of Comet with a really long wood skinny thing at the bottom...

Yeah , finally got to meet and ride with the Snake man, showing me around Las Virgenes and Cheseboro. The flowers looked great and early in the ride had to dodge runners . Some good stuff out there.!! Great post ride food at Sharkey's

San Juan Social Sunday!

@mtnbikej , @horsebikerider , along with TheProfessor, Two kids, and Hugh!

Fun time up and down on the Tin Lizard. I know this will be blasphemy, but it is so much easier and faster to get up and down that trail on the hardtail than on the barcalounger. I think part of it is that I never learned to sit and spin...

With a lot of the Santa Anas closed due to the Holy Fire, I really need to get out here more. San Juan and Motorway, at opposite ends of the mountain, are really all that's open now. Need to take advantage of both... And It's only 25 minutes from home...
