I Rode My Bike Today...

I got out this morning for my first real ride since my broken hand. Been off the bike for ~1 month, and ground out a 30 mile road ride on my 29er hardtail. I took the Aliso Creek bikeway from the Church (at Aliso Woods) to Cook's Corner and back. Completely uneventful and otherwise unremarkable.. except I felt pretty good grinding out 30mi after being off the bike for so long. Even managed to PR both directions (Church to Cooks and visa versa). So while I'm sure I lost some endurance, I loss less than I was expecting.

I will likely do this again tomorrow morning as I want to limit the dirt vibrations for my hand for another week.

I was so not ready for the Crusher. Ended up missing the cutoff by half an hour, and so ended up with 38.1 miles and 6,188 feet. Then rode 20 miles from the resort back to town. 20 miles, 19.6 of them downhill. Offset by a 20 mph headwind in places. Real RR to follow.

I rode "a" bike today...
My Lemond Zurich Willi-D Special...
Hey! :o I gotta ride! So, I rode the road up Mt. Pinos on my road bike. It's a 9 mile climb. Ironically I PR'ed it by a lot! What's really weird is I was 10th overall on the decent! ;)
Not uh, that I uh, ever look or use STRAVA Herzalot... :shifty:
Well... It made THIS old man happy! I mean if I have to be a roadie for a day. At least my Lycra finally fit in...

At the upper parking lot there were guys gearing up for their DH descents on McGill. As I rolled by they were giving me the "I hate you roadie scum" kinda look 8-) .
If they only knew I can beat most of their azz's down McGill without the armour! Bwah hah hah hah haaaaaah! ;)

I got to ride w/ two of my bro-in-laws and did a Whiting/Luge/Whiting ride. Beatiful weather and although Whitinig was busy, all interactions were very friendly. I even got the pleasure of meeting Herzalot before descending the Luge. Another great day on the bike.

Rode with North Ranch Mountain Bike Club today. We rode Backbone Trail from Kanan aka 3rd Tunnel 2.5 miles west then returned and rode 6.5 miles east to Corral Canyon. Ended up with a total of 18 miles and 3335'. The ride is all rolling single track with some tough climbs and great descents. Will be going back soon.

Oh yeah. I picked this up for Jenn on the way home.

We'll be taking it to Cheeseboro tomorrow.

It was cool to run in to Makoto out there. He's a solid rider - great positioning and flow on the downs - chest low, arms and legs absorbing terrain and letting it run down the Luge. Quick. That Vengeance doesn't hurt either!

His brothers-in-law had their hands full on the Luge, but had smiles nonetheless. Great stoke from that group!

I did what I said I was going to do yesterday and rode my bike again to Cook's and Back for another pavement grinding 30mi. I really was trying to talk myself out of it this morning, but training won, laziness lost.

Stay motivated.....it will make getting back in the dirt easier.

Did a birthday ride. Nothing fantastic, but a pretty big ride for me. 44 miles for 44 years. almost 5K climbing. Started at Santa Rosa Plateau and explored routes finally finding south main divide. lots of pavement climbing. turned around just before the Ortega by Lake Elsinore, as it started going downhill fast and I knew I was going to have to climb back up. the wind was really strong up there too.

We rode our bikes today. Jenn wanted to demo the Ripley one last time before she committed. Went and pedaled around Cheeseboro and ended up with 11.8 and 1342'. Needless to say she is now the proud owner of an Ibis Ripley.

Gotta say Vince at JRA Bikes & Brew gave us a smoking deal on their demo. It was only a few months old and showed very little wear.

A couple Aliso loops with Herz and Danimal.

I see you posted the photo of myself and Herzalot, along with all the rest of the Aliso crowd.
Points if you can guess which is Hrz and which is Danimal....

Good riding with you today Dave and Hrz. Damn you guys kill it on the DH, I'm going to have to step up my game. Must be that my hoofs don't clip in easily.... ;)

You're too kind Herz! In regards to the Vengeance, I'm an XFusion fan, what can I say? My bro-in-laws had a blast. Too bad one of them had mechanical probs on his bike and got stuck riding my hard tail. Yet, he wasn't the one who went OTB on the Luge.

Rode the Road Bike again today. But this time I rode with Cathy! Yay!
We did the Mt. Abel Road ride. Our plan is we both start at the same time, I ride to the top and then drop back to the bottom and start climbing back up in anticipation as to when Cathy is on here way back down from the top... I turn around and follow her down...
I got her a new Saddle for her birthday and although she was hurtin' from it's newness she had a great ride...
It's nice to ride with Mrs. Watson again! :D

I have been at baseball games all weekend. Double headers both days.

But... I did drag the trainer and my old road bike into the living room last night and spun for a solid 60 minutes while watching the Angels game.
Does that count?

"A" for effort but . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . no.
On a serious note (like an A sharp), I would hafta say yes because 60 minutes on a trainer feels like 2 hours of boredom!

I remember doing some time on a trainer back in the late 90s, with a hard cast on my broken ankle while watching aerobics girls exercise on the tv. Wasn't too bad.
Baseball on TV? Don't know if I could do it, golf maybe... :D

SS yesterday: 10 runs, no crashes, got my speed back. Railing berms like no tomorrow. Even had a friend say: You actually look like you know what you're doing.

Oodles and oodles of friends out there yesterday!! Best treat, riding w Kentonn and dft from STR; some of the best dh'ers I know.
