I Rode My Bike Today...

Big Boy ride today with Steve (Steve did part of the route) and a buddy who is up from the Escondido area.

I ended up with 30.11 miles and 3199' gain

Pedaled from home base, met my bud at Descanso Gardens. Pedaled East, took Flint Canyon Trail to Devils Gate basin. Merged onto the ST that leads toward the JPL parking lot from the dam. Meet Steve at the parking lot. Saddled up and headed up the Arroyo to the Fern TT junction and climbed that to the junction with Brown Mtn FR. Took a breather there then headed up Brown Mtn FR to the KB TH turn around spot. Stopped to enjoy the views on both sides of the saddle. Steve pointed out the area on the Upper Gab across the canyon where I tried to fall several hundred feet a few years back.

Headed back down, enjoying some miles of mostly empty ST. Back to the junction. Headed back down Fern TT and into the Arroyo. Steve headed for home from there and we headed upstream to reach the waterfall. The roll back down the creek was a blast as usual.

I had an intestinal virus for the first half of the week so I've been a bit weak. I suffered through every section of the ride today that required effort. The climbs were very difficult for me but seeing my bud enjoy new dirt that he'd been wanting to roll for some time made it all good.

Nice! That's it..... 1 pic!?!?

Limestone Canyon open access day this morning. Good fun as always. Started out really freakin' cold, but got warm in a hurry.

I did my usual route ... up/down Raptor (1 second off the DH KOM which is extremely frustrating ), Box Springs twice, Dripping Springs, Limestone Ridge where I got a PR & a cuppie, and then Shoestring to finish

I was pretty surprised to see so many bikes out there today, never saw that many before. At least one very large group ride, and two more smaller group rides. Bikes were more annoying than hikers out there for a change.

The weather turned out to be great, 78 degrees when I finished with a slight breeze.

Feeling really strong on the bike. Likely due to my brand new CrankBros Stamp 1 pedals which are 26 grams lighter than the shitty OneUp pedals I replaced. Not sure if that is per pair or per pedal. Regardless, they don't creak and click like the OneUp pedals, so that was nice.

Good times, wish you had been there, but not really. :whistling:

Rode weir \Oaks today . Lots of riders ,mix of mtn and ebiks. About 15 young kids and several parents on the bumblebee climb which made things 'interesting'. Haven't been down barham ridge since I heard it was sanitized.....it sure was!!! Always get some good climbing there in fewer miles. Great dirt and weather!

Saturday morning ride through Honeybee Canyon. The riding weather this time of year is excellent. A little chilly at the start but warms up nicely as the sun rises. I only saw a handful of other riders out today. Luckily a nice one came along and helped me get the cholla out of my arm……. 19.29 miles/1,171 feet.

I finished my visit with my bud from down South today with a classic route through Cheseboro. We had a buggravy sighting there this morning as we arrived. Feasted at Pita Grill afterward. Good times were had in great weather. Two very minor mechanicals. First my Izzo decided to drop the chain and then Jann's dropper slipped down too low. Easy breezy fixes...

My weekend was taken up by water pumps and thermostats on ye olde horseless carriage, so was only able to squeeze in a quick late afternoon ride today. I was super sore & stiff from two days of automotive work, so the ride was really to loosen me up more than anything. Nice little ride up the hill and down the other side. Stupid winter sun dropped too fast for me to add on to it, so it was just a quick loop. I feel pretty good now, thanks for asking!

Is Jann female? Cuz your bikes are getting a little flirty!

Easy spin through Laguna Coast Wilderness Park this morning. It was nice and empty ... I doubt I saw even 10 other people on the trails. :D

Lizards twice, Ol' Emerald, Old Emerald to the gate and back, Missing Link and Fenceline for the fun stuff. The first part of Lizards is super chunky and fun right now. They will probably smooth it out for the women and hardtail riders soon enough ... so enjoy it while you can.

Got off early for a dental cleaning, so rewarded myself with a mid-week spin! Asked Firstborn if he wanted to go and it was a go! Basically just had time to ride up to Deer Trail, get a PR on that, and then meander home before dusk. Nice impromptu ride!

Impromptu rides are usually the best. Hop on the bike and go.
I like it when the spousal unit says " go for a ride". Too bad she doesn't ride anymore.

Have your buddy call me if he wants some company on the trails. We are close.
