I Rode My Bike Today...

Had a rad week riding :sneaky::cool::ninja::thumbsup:
Evidently! Good on ya.

And yes, the XL Revel Rail fits great. A disproportionate amount of my 6'4" height is torso, so I just need a long top tube.

One final thought - unless I completely misunderstand how physics and math work, if you start and end a ride in the same location, your amount of climbing will have to equal your amount of descending, assuming you didn't go through a worm hole or get a shuttle. I know there is normal variability in our tracking devices, so that probably accounts for the slight differences.

Cardio day, Mather Road for a railroad grade, constant spin. Nothing very interesting to report. Saw 2 large bobcats, and a nice sunset...

@scan came out to my playground to give it another try. I was going to go for another bus-shuttle, but easy change to plans to meet up at Oakmont. Fran has done most of the trails already, so not really new dirt, but linked it up for some nice flow in order to ride most all of it in one go. A couple climbs, a couple ridgelines, gopher holes, and flowy ST to be had. My phone glitched and cut my Strava off and erased a couple pictures I took, but was able to get his track and a single saved photo. Good times!

Sawmill Mountain loop, through one of the most low-key OHV areas I've encountered. I saw exactly one sign with the acronym 'OHV' on it. The loop starts near Harden Flat Road and CA-120, loops out around Sawmill Mtn, and vaguely follows the Middle Fork Tuolumne River, then bends southeast to Ackerson Meadow/Mountain area, eventually joining Evergreen Road near Aspen Valley. Area is badly burned but recovering.

I tried to locate the only ford of Middle Fork in this area, near Camp Tawonga. The road that should have lead there was signed as a mining claim, and I saw Old Glory flying in a group of trees near the river. Decided not to crash that party. :(

Sawmill is Christmas tree country, free trees for any bloke can wield a saw! Funny thing is, they're mostly Jeffrey pines in the area, very jingus for a decorative tree.

TrailForks ride log is here: link to TrailForks ride log

Only snapped one pic, Tower Peak and friends again, all dressed for the season:

That rear tire? It looks like it's got multiple rides left in it. Too much air maybe? What do you keep the pressure at in that tire?
Yeah, that's the one. I always keep it at 21psi, so no variation there. If anything it may be down a smidge from that as I didn't check today. Conti Mountain King which came with the wheels. Has been a good tire for me!

@Dr. Wellington Yueh is this the ford you were talking about?

If so I've been to this spot before, and never saw anything about a mining claim. It was too deep to drive my truck across but I went for a swim. A friend crossed here on a bikepacking trip. We looked at using this for Orogenesis but I didn't really like the roads on this side. There was one road around Ackerson Mtn that was cool and narrow but the rest were wider and don't connect very well to get south of Yosemite.

Interesting. I've drive right down to the water on each end, never seen anything. That was around 5 yrs ago though... But mining claims aren't supposed to limit recreational access you just can't prospect or mine. There isn't much down there to host any sort of gathering.

Tom… You are too kind… You are the true master and I am the apprentice just attempting to learn how to ride so smooth and fast on the downhill… Love riding with your brother!
