I Rode My Bike Today...

2 of the 3 e-bikers I have seen seemed perfectly capable of pedaling a bike. Not overweight. I will assume they had a medical condition that leaves them no option other than not riding. Somehow, I doubt it. They are just lazy and are choosing a different way of enjoying the sport. Unfortunately, we don't need any help getting trails closed to mt. bikes, but charging up a hill at 20 mph is certainly not going to win any points with hikers or horsey people, especially if it's on singletrack.

And "Amen Brother" on external speakers.

I don't know what pisses me off more... The laziness or the jumping steps in trail knowledge and ability.

My bike rode me yesterday...
Bike for Bender out of Pioneertown.

I only saw a couple of the "Strava Start" and "Strava End" signs yesterday. What a great idea, though... Maybe we can get @herzalot to make some Strava signs for Aliso?

Working 7 days a week, I'm pretty much stuck in Fullerton. Rode the Floop again today. This time on the SS. I've been swapping parts with the Road Trance to upgrade the SS lately. Higher end parts make the SS lighter, more durable/reliable and more fun to ride. Got "some" mileage and elevation locally . 31 /2600. PR's all over the place :D.

I looked for them given the organizer touted them at the pre-ride meeting, but I didn't see any of them. At least he wasn't lying! (not that I was going to go any faster for them mind you, but I was interested in seeing what segments they had marked for my post ride data review)

[QUOTE="Doc Holliday, post: 47610, member: 915" Can we all get behind the real annoyance that is getting worse and worse. BLUETOOTH SPEAKERS in backpacks or attached to handlebars! Some of us like the quiet! I don't need to listen to your crap music all the way up (insert name of hill here). I actually got so annoyed I stopped mid climb, let him catch up, pass me, then go on another good distance so I could enjoy myself once again.
Much agreed, I hate that crap.

"Earth to @ridinrox . . . . . . . . . . OVER?" You okay???

I rode my bike today. I went to P12 but the minute I put my helmet on it started spitting rain. No jacket, no brains! So I blasted home and made it a quickie with Mrs. Watson up Oneil Canyon. She did one lap, I did two. Then I came home and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. Gotta burn, burn, burn, that fat, fat, FAT!

But the last jump of the day hit me back:

Hey thats how I looked from your vantage point July 16, 2014! You ok?
I think that was the last time I rode w you Gary. You ready for a do-over??

Yeah, I'm ok guys. Got my bell rung pretty good. Roy asked if I was ok, when I said yes, he immediately pulls out the camera. He's weird that way....o_O

Thanks for asking guys. :inlove:

Nice jump pic... and post jump pic, rox. Glad you didn't get hurt, easier to get a chuckle that way.

I rode yesterday and Sunday, both at Oaks and both around 10 miles which is pretty standard for my quick rides. I am starting to see big improvements in my DH skills, need to work on the beer belly to help my climbing though.

No pics out on the trails from my rides so here is my neighbor's goat that I ride past to/from the trails.

Get your winter gear back out...high of 42 on Santiago Peak today, with a dusting of white on the ground. Then put it away, cuz it'll be 20° warmer by Thu.

Sir Crashie, I'm doing little out/backs on my single speed between work surges. I'm still too afraid and weak to do anything tough, so I'm working the first part of HJ. But oddly, I can see the day when the 26t gets replaced with something bigger. For some reason it's fun.

Cat-like reflexes saved yurrass, Rox : ) Damn photogawkers...I stupidly fell off the trail taking my super green buddy out on his first Santa Anas ride, and only then did the F@cker pull out the phone. Perils of the times, I guess.

If you're referring to surf-cat like then yes; decades of surfing taught me tuck and roll but also hold my breath. I can't seem to break that habit of holding my breath when I crash, it's pretty funny.

A very strange thing happened on my ride today - my legs felt really, really strong. I mean, like I've never felt before. The bike just wanted to go.

Don't get me wrong, I was still slow on the super steep climbs, but everywhere else, I was hammering! One to three gears harder than normal in most places. And as I passed 3000' of climbing, I still had plenty left in the tank.

From the main Aliso lot I rode up Coyote, up Cholla, down Rock-It, up to 5-Oaks, down 5-Oaks, up Cholla again to the top of Rock-It, but turned around and rode Lynx, Down Coyote to Mathis, responded to a text from @ridinrox, up Mathis to ToW, down Meadows and back to the car - still running harder gears than normal. Usually after that much climbing, it's all I can do to pedal back to the car.

I also slammed the downs. Stupid-fun speed on Rock-It and 5-Oaks. I wanted to do Car Wreck or Stairs, but I won't do those by myself on a weekday when there's no one around to pick me up if I have a mishap.

I did nothing different today that could account for my unusual energy. I've been downing about 16 oz of Skratch before my rides for the past month or so, and it makes a huge difference for me. I think I had about 20 oz before today's ride. That's about it.

The only difference on my bike was I added a volume reducer to the Cane Creek Inline. I also moved it from the 145mm position to the 160mm position for yesterday's ride. With that kind of leverage, it felt like it needed a volume spacer to give it some mid-to-late stroke support. One large spacer seemed to do the trick nicely. More details about this in the Tracer 275c Review thread.

Great morning. Very few people out. Weekdays are amazing. :inlove:

Bikes are fun! :)

There was a tailwind blowing in from the coast. :whistling:

@ridinrox My wife is working all day Friday (has to go to four different schools), so I would need to find a sitter. I will see if mine is available, although I think she's in Yosemite.

I recently had an offer from Dave to try the RFX, but I bought the Tracer before I had a chance to try the RFX. The numbers weren't right for me on the Turner anyway (top tube length, reach, stack, cost, etc). As much as you like your 5-Spot, I am guessing you would really like the RFX. I'll be interested to see what you think of the Tracer. Make sure they set it at exactly 30% sag in the rear shock (17mm).

I thought about that. But nope. Too many different directions to be wind aided.

A wind from the coast would have been a headwind on Mathis and the ridge, but yes, it would have been a tailwind pushing me up to 5-Oaks. The winds were calm below the ridge, and it was calm at the top of 5-O. There was a bit of a stout breeze in my face from ToW over to Meadows. South-West onshore from about 200*.

I am guessing today was just an anomaly.

Well, holding your breath is probably better than making a fist a la snowboarding...

Herz: Low gravity days show up unannounced...

Jaime, the day you shave your legs is the day you risk more substantial skinjury. Leg fur good, ooh oohh!!

Work from home Wednesday, wasn't. Barely got home in time for a ride. Threw all my gear on. Jammed into Aliso. Rubber side up on mentally sensitive. The cross country tires on my pivot wagon wheeler don't quite have the same grip as the magic Mary's on the Bronson. It's all good. Fun ride, fun pace, fairly empty trails, And a 4:23 Cholla. Stoked.
