I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Best wishes for beating the bug, Mikie.

But, why do people go to work when they're sick? They do it all the time, then others get sick. Isn't that what sick days are for?
Good question...
Unfortunately, like most companies I am a single point failure for their Talent Lab. Was already booked with Presentations at A&P Schools and lined up with interviews in advance. Since no one else does what I do, there is no one there to replace me.
Silly... I know, none the less the facts. And since I'm not one to quit or give up. I feel obligated to do my job.

It's 9:16 am. I'm that much closer to my last interview and I'm outta heeaaah!

I have not ridden all week. Not since Saturday with my buddy @Voodoo Tom . When we finished up Golden Eagle last Saturday. I... Was... Wiped.... Out.....
Thought to my self MAN, I'm not THAT out of shape... Turns out I was coming down with the Flu most everyone else is getting. I have not been sick in over 3 to 4 years.
Ran 102 temp last night after a week of hacking and coughing unproductive meaningless coughs.
I got 6 Interviews I need to conduct today and one Upper Manager Meeting... then I get to drive by braille home and crash land into my pillow for 3 days.
Pray for me... Can't..................last....................much..............................longer...
I would be PISSED if I showed up to an interview and the interviewer was sick, let alone 102 fever sick. Just stay home. For your sake and everyone else (co-workers and future co-workers) who does not want your illnesses sake.

Get BETTER!

Edit: Yes I realize you are already there and you are the only you there.

I haven't ridden in weeks and currently waiting to have yet another ultrasound done on my organs after getting blood drawn a few mins ago. Hoping I can pedal tomorrow, I took the friggin day off so I better! Oh, and hoping the ultrasound and tests all come back ok as well.

We hope so too. Hang in there and you'll be back to your old self in no time.

Assuming, of course, that that's who you want to be.;)

Ha hah! I hear yah.
Have you ever heard of actors going on stage no matter what, cuzz the show must go on.
They have no clue I'm sick, I wash my hands like a bazillion times in between interviews. I take good care of them. I'm a tough MoFo... :)
11:23am..... Getting closer... Tick Tock Tick Tock...

...because I had to do civic/professional duty and make an appearance at a local event this morning , and then I need to tend to my Dad who was hospitalized yesterday with a heart problem. :( It's his 92nd birthday next Sunday - I pray. I will also not be riding tomorrow. o_O

Herz- Sorry that I missed this post. And even sorrier that your Dad is having problems.

Edit: I read farther! Awesome to hear he was released...

Back to back days of the stars aligning against my riding plans. Yesterday my wife accidentally took both sets of my car keys to work with her. :bang: I realized this when I tried to leave the house to take the kids to school. Fortunately we have family nearby, so after scrambling and coordinating with them, we got the kids to school and I borrowed a car to go get my keys from my wife. By the time all of that was done, the window for riding was gone. Oh well, I made it a productive day around the house to clear today's schedule for riding.

Then our dog got diarrhea in the middle of the night last night and I ended up getting up 5 times during the night to let him out. On the bright side, at least he made it out in time. I would feel bad about skipping riding just from lack of sleep (not saying I wouldn't do it), so I'm going to focus on not wanting to come home to a house full of dog :poop:. In his younger days, he would have just spent the day in the back yard, but in his old age he's decided that he'll only go in the backyard if he has someone to keep him company, or he'll bark his head off the whole time.

Fingers crossed to get out riding tomorrow!

Well, things went from annoying to sad, and still no riding. I've stayed home with our dog the last couple of days as he's taken a sudden turn for the worse. After starting with just keeping us up during the night, he didn't eat or drink the next day, seems to have bleeding in his digestive system, and peed on himself without getting up to get out of it afterward. We adopted him about 11 years ago, so we don't know his exact age, but he's about 14-15 years old, which is up there for a German Shepherd. We had some tough conversations with our kids yesterday and took him to the vet in the afternoon, half expecting to have to put him to sleep. Now we have 5 medications to give him to see if he can bounce back in the next couple of days as a last shot. So far it's not looking so good. He's drinking a little again, and ate a little last night for the first time in a couple of days, but today he won't eat anything (so no medicine) and will barely get up, just half asleep. This is hard enough as an adult, but it's heartbreaking watching the kids go through it for the first time. We're still keeping our fingers crossed for a miracle recovery since he was acting like a much younger dog less than a week ago, but it seems unlikely.

On the riding side of things, it sucks to end up off the bike for a week with a race one week out, especially after feeling good about my training up to this point. Oh well, this puts things in perspective.

It's the
I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....
thread, what did you expect? :D

HA!!!!

Something more upbeat than my dad's dying, my dog is dying, I'm getting my organs tested via ultrasound. I hacked green phlegm all over the job applicants. It's worse than a country & western song.

Maybe, I felt like being lazy today. I spent the day with the wife and kids.

Here's a retroactive one to balance it out a little :): On Sunday, I skipped riding to play basketball with my childhood friend, his son, and my son. We grew up playing basketball together, with his dad in their driveway, and now we both have sons the are the same age and learning to play. It's the first time we were able to play father/son 2-on-2 basketball, and it was awesome taking our old tradition to the next generation! (even though our 7/8 year old kids insisted on full court 2-on-2 o_O)

Out here on the ranch
The locusts attack
My dog is dying
my Dad had a cardiac
I'm coughing up plegm
The interview went sour
They're looking at my organs
I just ain't got no power
I'm gonna go drinking
That bottles my friend
The honky tonk's calling
I'm at my wits end
It's a country dilemma
For simple folk like me
I'm gonna keep drinking
Till I wake up in my pee!

All in jest friends....I hope you and your loved ones enjoy better health and more free time to ride....

How about... The wife was excused from jury duty and we're having a sushi date to celebrate!

I read the words, but I kept hearing, "Johnny's in the basement, mixin' up the medicine..."

'Cuzz I rode yesterday and didn't get enough rest to go to work at night and worked full shift and got home and slept 7 hrs straight and now I'm waiting for wifey to feed me and I'm writting here, but RR of yesterday in an hour and...and..

We need to get our sh!t together cuzz this thread is getting way too long. Best of luck to all those going thru trying times.

I was going to ride to work today but instead I got "the look"... Apparently the wife is getting some kind of award for being volunteer of the century at my son's school or something like that and I'm supposed to be there. Oh well can't win em all.

Way too non-depressing, jaime. I think there's a 48-hour post-allowance window for posting in I Rode My Bike Today...

Howzbout... CUZZ I RIDEN TOMORROW :geek::cautious:

You sir, are a genius!

I WILL ride this weekend, unless all the trails have been bulldozed. (waaaah waaaaaaah waaaaaah) Debbie Downer.

I believe the average age for a member here is in the 50's! :gag:

I guess that makes me "above average." :)

I didn't ride my (friend's) bike today because.. really I don't have a good excuse. I thought about riding, I even talked about riding, but to be honest-- I had to work. And I'm glad for the work.

Tomorrow's another day.. and did I hear something about a time change coming up?

Yeah, but you win the vast majority of them!
