I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

'cuz hero dirt is just as good for digging as for riding!

Fixed a few sections that were starting to get rutted and installed drains

Riding tomorrow, going to connect Carrizo Gorge to Fish Canyon in Anza Borrego

I was busy finishing rebuilding the aluminum Synapse for the wife to ride. Originally stocked with Tektro brakes, FSA Gossamer compact crankset, 10 speed 12-28 cassette, 105 brifters & derailleurs, standard Cannondale bars and saddle, and RS-10 wheelset.

Stripped it to the frame, added Ultegra brakes, (rear, front didn't fit - there's a story there), Ultegra 11 speed 12-28 cassette & rear derailleur from the Path takeoff wall: $50 cassette and $60 RD; Ultegra FD, Ultegra brifters; kept the Tektro front brake and FSA crankset for now along with the Cannondale handlebars. Re-taped the bars today and the wife wanted flats and not clipless pedals - I had Wellgo pedals from long ago and slapped them on. Put on Easton EA-70 LTD wheelset about 6 months ago.

Can't really tell the difference from a pic, but it now weighs 20.2 lbs with pedals, seatpost bag, and two bottle cages. By comparison, my brand new carbon Giant Defy with 105 components and hydraulic disc brakes weights 20.1 lbs.

I think I spent a grand total of $480.

Usually you can park at the bottom and ride up the road if it is closed. "Nobody is going up" said the Arcadia cop at the gate. That's what gave me the idea for the donuts!
The road is probably blocked up worse than an opiate addict on a cheese binge.
I got skunked there today as well.
I figured on the closed gate and was expecting the road climb, but no dice. I hung around a bit to see if I could sneak on in but there was a guy sitting in a truck.
I took a chance on Rose Hills on the way home, but nothing open there either.

Tami's Stitches.JPG

Wife and daughter have been taking horsey riding lessons. My wife's horse got excited about a newly opened gate and rammed my wife's leg against said gate. Impaled to the bone by a protrusion on the gate, and a nice wide laceration displaying some muscle tissue. 7 hours (waiting around) in the Mission Hospital ER to get these 15 stitches installed. They actually did a pretty nice job, once they got around to it. It looked like a gunshot wound and a flap of meat before. No bone damage. She walked in at 1pm and walked out at 7:45pm.

Did the Patriots win? They were taking over the game about the time Tami was released.

Dayam! Not sure about the foosball, but the Kings won! Your description sounds morbid. :gag: Shaving will kinda suck. Thumbs up to Mrs. Herzalot.

Horses are dangerous! Glad it wasn't worse and she's all patched up.

Ouch!!! Glad it was only a flesh wound and it didn't involve crushed bones :gag:
