I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

What are we looking at?

side view of my spine, disks and nerve canal, and maybe a bunch of tiny hamsters

The white column in the middle should not be interrupted. My disk at L3 spewed out its disc material into the spinal canal, leading to excruciating pain and numbness of the left upper leg and knee. Perfectly comfortable if I don’t stand, walk or sit and just lie flat or curled in a fetal position.

Good times! Many of you have been there, many have had worse. Just a natural symptom of living how I want live.

Get that taken care of and preserve those nerves Chris.
Healing vibes and prayers. Keep up the good attitude :thumbsup:

I got one short freezing frost balls ride in Vegas before we returned home before New Years only to get sick. I'm still trying to shake it off. The last time I got sick was 2 years ago. What pisses me off more is that the weather is perfect and I'm not loaded down with work at the moment. I'd be pushing down on the pedals right now if I could.

Even tho it’s right over there…

Woke up Sun morning at midnight in pain. Waited seven hour to see if anything change. It did, it got worse. Knew I had a huge kidney stone tucked away in the left kidney. Figured it had dropped and was wedged in the ureter. Trip to the ER which was fortunately empty at 7:30, got right in, was examined, sent to have a CT scan and blood and urine tests. Sure enough, I was exactly right. The only kicker was that this 8mm bad boy was also infected. Admitted to the hospital put on IV antibiotics and a slug of morphine. Pain is off the charts. Added to the end of the day urological surgery as an emergency. Had surgery at 8 PM. Didn't go well. My ureter is extra long and the scope was a couple of inches shy of reaching the kidney. Different scope inserted. Laser lithotripsy was largely unsuccessful because the stone had wedged itself into a pocket and the laser couldn't get around the corner to it. Maybe 30% lased. Stent place in ureter. Follow up with urologist tomorrow to see if ultra-sonic breakup is indicated. He thinks this stone, which he called a black stone, is the hardest type and may be one of the 5% that can't be broken up. Lovely. Oh, and brought home a virus from the hospital yesterday. Fever and chills all day and night.

Foly huck! I passed two kidney stones in a matter of 4 days last year. The second one was brutal. I wish you well.

Wishes for a quick fix and recovery. Sounds rough!

You win! I cannot believe the amount of physical hardship that has come your way. This sounds horrifying in itself, but on top of everything else? Foly Huck!!!

You jump to the top of the prayer (positive vibes, etc) list!

For anybody that hasn’t had the pleasure of kidney stones…:

this is a really good explanation of what they are and why they cause the pain they do….

Wow, bummer. Healing vibes.

Yeah, what he said. More or less recovered from the ordeal as of this morning. Saw the surgeon yesterday, scheduled a redo of the procedure to bust up the black oxalate asteroid invader next Tues. :gag: Stent stays in 'til then and for 5-7 more days after. On the good news side, he says although my prostate is only mildly enlarged and it is not a problem (bad news is my bladder is a flaccid pile of soggy, saggy toast never to be operational again ), stopped the meds/chemical castration and flow maximizer, both needless (thanks 1st doc! :bang:). No future surgery needed on that puppy. Pain from stent is from irritation and probably won't be worsened by riding bike, said to go for it and see how it feels. Maybe take that one slow at this point as body is still adjusting to it. Thanks for everyone's support as I sort this out.

Was a Holiday, but had some work to do. Figured when i was done I'd go for a ride. Never finished the work, but went outside to go get the bike ready and thought, I'm in no mood to be chilly on my ride today, so scrapped the ride and will go do yoga instead.

Yeah, I know. It ain't very cold but I like the heat.
