I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Didn't ride today because my sore Rotator cuff was acting up, so I spent a great morning hiking O'neil park with my Wife. Ran across this foxy little guy. We looked at each other for quite some time, so cool to see up close.

Ooh cool! I’ve seen these guys, but never have time to snap a pic, he/ she was in need of some attention!

Cuzz I got Dippin' Dots. The first couple days of next week are the annual Kaia/Daddy extravaganza, when my wife has to report back for teaching, but my daughter still has a couple days before starting school. Sometimes we go camping. Sometimes we stack it with fun local stuff. This time she asked if we could do Disneyland, and I couldn't think of a real reason why not other than it sounded like pure unadulterated hell. Looking at crowd trackers it looked like today was going to surprisingly be less crowded than tomorrow, so we decided to start the extravaganza a day early. On ride number 2 my (up to this point) daredevil daughter got spooked by the drop on one ride, and all of the sudden was fear stricken to go on anything else besides little kid rides. Maybe due to temperate weather, hoards of people had arrived as well. We decided to bail. She has been going through some self esteem stuff lately, and I could tell she was beating herself up about what happened, so I was bound and determined not to let it ruin the day. Dippin' Dots to the rescue. Found one close by in Buena Park courtesy of Waze, and off we went. As we approached, I realized where it was. Smack in the middle of Knotsberry Farm. Fak! She then asked me where I got them the other day....so off we went from Buena Park to Calabasas by way of the West Covina mall. Ultimately the day ended on a high note, and I could tell she appreciated the effort, so I guess mission accomplished. Trying to recover from the sting of dropping the better part of $500 on one spin through Soarin' Over California, and a couple medium Dippin' Dots, coupled with subjecting myself to 3 of my least favorite things (Disney, traffic, mall).

Good recovery, dad!

Sounds familiar. My 9 yo thinks she's a horrible person if she can't so something that someone else can do, irrespective of the fact that they've been doing it for 4 years, and she tried it once. Sad that it can start so early and for no reason. Good job with the diversion and deflection.

Oh, and I surfed today.

Thanks, dude, and yeah, it's tough to watch. Unfortunately her deal is compounded a bit. She's undeniably some form of ADD/ADHD/Impulse Control disorder, though technically undiagnosed as we have been hoping she'd sort of grow out of it, or grow into herself. It's kind of coming to a head though, as it seems to be getting worse, and she's getting to the age that she can see that it's affecting her relationships, and she's starting to view herself as an annoying kid. Today was one of those days where I really had to have my game face on.

Nice work dad! You’re sensitive to her feelings and that’s a big deal, she’s gonna be alright:thumbsup:
I used to take all three of my kids to Disneyland, the drive home was the best part as they were all zonked out, same with the beach :sleep:

Day 2 of the Daddy/Kaia extravaganza. Mini golf, more Dippin' Dots, pizza from our favorite pizza joint, and then I took her to buy dresses and rompers for school. Another exercise in acceptance for me. We had a really sweet time, but this year she opted out of both camping and a bike ride. Hard not to micromanage how I want her to have fun.

On a more devastating note, we got Dippin' Dots from the mini golf place, and they sell them in the prepackaged bag, meaning I actually got to see the list of ingredients. I certainly had no delusions that they weren't straight up junk, but I was crestfallen to read what an utter chemical sh!tstorm they are. Shattered dreams.

Crestfallen!!!!!!! I hope your wordsmith skills are appreciated outside of our little sphere, Matt. I sure get a kick out of the biting reviews. :D:thumbsup:

I did and it helped a little... After about 62 reboots, pings, pongs and dealing with ding dongs they are sending me yet another new modem. Such great service for the ridiculous amount of money it cost :gag: Good thing I have a Verizon cell phone with the WiFi turned off.

I despise AT&T, and have them for internet and TV, but must admit that their internet service has been bombproof the last 3 years. I also have Verizon for cellphone.
