Sounds like you're getting in lots of rock time this yearFabulous!! Way to mix it up and mine some different fun, Gary
Back yesterday from a Yosemite mission. As my mom said decades ago, Again??
So you know... if you leave your bike unlocked in the woods where I intend to ferry loads, I will make use of your bike : )

My only regret was not using it more to get all the water from the car to the woods. Next day it was gone.
We got up 35% of the South Face route on Washington Column, but it took 8 hours. My man Brant took 4 hours to lead the Kor Roof pitch. I really don’t know how that’s even possible, though I was there to witness it. I’m sure we’ve both led it in an hour or so.
As long as nobody gets hurt, it’s a success. Since I budgeted 14 hours for the climb, I would have missed the 10-11am Tioga Pass window getting home, where my mom is visiting.
Honestly, it’s not the added three hours. I know we can deal with that. I may not understand what it is, but there is a reason my pal epic’ed the pitch. I don’t like feeling I’m forcing the hand doing life support oriented stuff. If committed that’s another story. We were not.
So we rapped off at 2am and packed up for the hike down as it got light. It’s good to be reminded of one’s mortality, and sets a good stage for the next successful summit.

The only accident...this pic.

Here’s to my buddy, giving all he had and pulling through with safe climbing and a good attitude. No ding on our partnership
LOL!!!competitive eating on tv.
Yea, weird. In my 20s I felt like I had something to prove (to myself). Then I mostly proved it and mountain bikes got better. Now I’m old enough that I have something to prove again. No excessively dangerous climbing. Lots of trade route action and endurance stuff.Sounds like you're getting in lots of rock time this year

Taking advantage of NOT doing the laguna beach festival of arts this summer, wife and I went on a camping/hiking trip in the Eastern Sierras this tues-fri. Camped near Bridgeport for two nights and last night stayed in Mammoth. Had to hike middle elevation stuff because there's still quite a bit of snow out there above 8500-9500 feet, depending. On Wednesday we hiked up to Green Lake, and kept going up another mile and 400' up to East Lake and the snow got so prevalent we lost the trail where it switchbacked across the creek. Trudged through the snow to the lake, (9400') which still had some ice and it was chilly. Next day a little lower, hiked to Barney Lake above Twin Lakes, and did Mcgee creek on last day, lower and snow free until the big creek crossing. only been to mcgee in fall before, quite the wildflower display in June. Trails were uncrowded and weather was awesome, way cooler than usual for end of June.

Well if that doesn't melt your heart, you better check to see if you have one.
Oh lucky guy! Enjoy!
That happened to me several years ago on the first day of my vacation. My supervisor sent me a text asking if I could come in and cover my route. Thankfully I was already on the trail so I sent him a selfie of me in my mountain bike helmet. He knew it was a longshot but figured he'd try.Loaded the bike, was ready to roll for some July 1st (Happy Canada Day eh!) monroe goodness,
just about to turn onto glendora mountain road and got a call to cover some some summer school classes, the extra cash is nice in the summer so I turned around.
Thought about keeping the bike on the rack and hitting turnbull after work, since I would be in Hacienda Heights... but the heat mid day the past few days dissuaded me....
Vermont!
You going to check out the quarry? It's in the big metropolis of Danby.
If interested I can ping the co worker and find out when he'll be there.
Apparently I overdid it this week. Worst bonk ever last Sunday. Century on Monday. Tuesday I felt worked but did a small ride anyways. Wednesday I felt a little better so I headed out for another "small" ride. That small ride turned into 32 miles and 4500k. I started feeling a little funky on the way home but hoped it would pass. Well I had no desire for my post ride beer and not much of an appetite. I spent the rest of the afternoon on the couch with flu like symptoms except a fever and I still had an appetite. I'm guessing just run down. Went to bed at 9 last night and woke up at 8 this morning. That's about 4 more hours of sleep than I normally get. Felt much better this morning but Jennifer said there's no way I'm getting on my bike. For the first time in a long time I actually didn't want to. Feeling much better today. Hoping to get out tomorrow.
Bummer, Ed...but overdue? I can’t believe what some of you guys...okay, you in particular, do to yourselves as often as you do. On top of a physical job? Sheesh, give yourself a break here and there. Not like I’m a model of achievement, but I take days off after an effort. Hoping it passes quickly and becomes more wisdom in hindsight. I like acting 20 years old, too. THANK YOU for the offer... my cousin lives in Rutland area and we were going to try to visit there and it would have been perfect. But he had to leave town, so he visited us in Hardwick instead. Long/short is that we're in Boston now, so it won't work out now. We didn't get to the Rock of Ages quarry, either. It was closer to us, but playing in the creek was more fun!

I love old graveyards, but everyone else hates them... so I was out voted and didn't get the opportunity!I have lots of cousins in the Rutland area, but we haven't talked to them in about 300 years...
If you see any "Houghton" monuments, snap some pictures!
Man I miss living out there! Ever get to the Mohawk trail??New England Saturdays...

Uhhhhhh..... thanks? For that?Missing New England...interesting concept, eh, @Cornholio?
I can still smell the urine in the T station and feel the sweat dripping off my sack after three minutes outside. Poison ivy was fun. Black flies, Santa Anas got nothing on the Granite State. And that month it never got above freezing. But it’s a nice place. Love to see photos.
Ahhh the fresh smell of urine in the T-Stations. I'll be there tomorrow! But then we are headed up to Squam Lake in New Hampshire. I can hear the loons now.Missing New England...interesting concept, eh, @Cornholio?
