Herzalot

How ya making out, @herzalot?

Hoping no issues and merely requisite discomfort and inconvenience through the rough patch. Power on! :geek:
All's well. Picked up my bike from Todd yesterday. Gave it to the first tall homeless guy I could find. My helmet took a little more of a hit than I thought - back right. Picked up my missing gear from the hospital today (they misplaced my shoes, shorts, watch, gloves...). Sleeping almost flat now. Only doing the painkillers at night, and the "supplements" are preventing the typical accompanying discomfort. Frankly, I keep forgetting I have a broken wing though. Like when I'm typing on IMTB. :whistling:

Ortho Doc appointment tomorrow. Gotta get ready for that Skyline ride next weekend, right? :sneaky:

Impressive carpentry on the C-Bone!

Can't see the scapula break in this view, but you sure can see a couple of unhappy ribs!

That hurts me to look at it! Breathing alone is tough i bet.

So glad you made it through the surgery ok and keeping a positive attitude.
I've bruised my ribs on at least three occasions, including that awful fall I had in Whistler when you were there. You observed me suffer trying to sleep sitting up, and trying to function as we flew home (a journey filled with awful for you). I paid for an x-ray at the Whistler clinic - not broken. Yet for some reason, my ribs are not really bothering me this time. The crash I had 6 weeks ago hurt worse (in terms of ribs) than this one - but there's the evidence. And I am told there are two more broken - not in picture. I am sleeping fine and functioning well. Bizarre. Keep waiting for the rib pain to kick in. And no, I am not doped up on painkillers.

I was a little pre-mature in my appointment today (supposed to be two weeks, not 8 days) - but they pulled the ten staples anyway saying - "you are healing remarkably fast."

See you all at Snow Summit this weekend! ;)

Is the CB hardware permanent or will it get removed?
Hopefully, permanent! I have a miniature version in my left hand. I like to call it "internal body armor."

Doc says about 1/4 of patients have it removed due to irritation with backpack straps. This one seems very well integrated. He suggests I keep it since I will likely fall on it again.
I was horribly insulted!

Damn, dude, that's a thing. Am I processing the x-ray correctly that the ribs are broken on the back side? Was the impact on your shoulder blade, and the collarbone broke forward?

Missed this thread the first time around. Sorry to hear about the crash, and healing vibes for a quick recovery. Not gonna lie, but it is a little intimidating to know you went down on Rock-It since I know you know that trail like the back of your hand. Several sections on that trail where there really aren't any soft landing zones. One of my buddies who is a doctor landed hard just past the rock garden and had to be driven out by the ranger. Though he didn't break anything, he bruised his thorax so badly he couldn't sleep at night because he couldn't lie down. He ended up prescribing himself morphine. Yikes!

Hoping they gave you good meds!
