Enough with the matchie-matchie, already. More mad max, less walmart.
With your experience you know this already, but here goes...Sorry, official weight with pedals more like 30-31lb. Tried on two other scales, one of them good.
Calculations for CF bars, lighter stem, lighter pedals, CF rims would put me under 30.
Thanks I feel better. But I am still gonna change out to blue Ti rotor screws.......With your experience you know this already, but here goes...
I wouldn't drop weight just to drop weight. Use great parts that work really well and are a match for your riding style, and the intended use of the bike. If that means slightly heavier pedals or aluminum wheels, so be it. I guarantee you won't notice a difference between 29.5 and 30.5 lbs.
CF rim junkies claim they notice a huge difference in performance. I do too - in the opposite direction. Too stiff, too much deflection. Negligible acceleration affect. Might be a bigger deal on the 29er though.
I would love some CF wheels. Losing rotating mass feels nice. But there are aluminum options that offer a decent weight and cost a ton less. I'd probably have to buy used carbon fiber. With your experience you know this already, but here goes...
