Flu shot????

Never, never, never....
And after you have had the upcoming avian/swine/rat/terra-bot flu, you'll say never, never, never...again.

But hey, if you're allergic to eggs, then I understand.

The nurse was fantastic today. I never felt the needle go in or the injection pressure. But my arm and shoulder sure are sore.

While you were resting, your immune system did an epic and is now even more badass than before.

Flu shot, sure...I'll grab one when I pick up my ebike.

Getting mine Thursday.

You’re right that many people report side effects. the most common side effect is a sore arm. The second most common side effect is redness at the injection site.

On the other hand, most years it reduces your chance of getting the flu by 80%. For me, that’s worth a sore arm.

oh, and I did do my homework:
https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/193139

hot lemonade with honey is nice and all, but not getting the flu in the first place is better.

Yesss! Thank you!
Do your homework people...check out the facts on side effects and just exactly what is in a flu/ immunization cocktail :gag:
NEVER EVER EVVVVER for me!
Without taking calculated risks, we are not really living.

I can risk dying from the flu or I can risk dying, ultimately, from the vaccine.

Either way, it's a calculated risk.

MRC-5 is a line of cells derived from a single aborted baby in 1966. It sounds gross, and you won’t find anyone more opposed to abortion-on-demand than me, but this isn’t problematic.

Then again, I have an Achilles’ tendon harvested from a cadaver, and a titanium plate with seven screws over my clavicle. I hardly qualify as “all-natural” at this point.

Here’s why exposure to ethylmercury is nothing to fear:

  1. Since 2001, routine vaccines for children under six no longer contain thimerosal. Teens and adults can also request thimerosal-free vaccines. (The incidence of autism has continued to rise since thimerosal’s removal. This provides strong evidence that thimerosal was not behind the rise in autism.)
  2. The amount of mercury in a thimerosal-containing vaccine is tiny. According to the FDA, “a vaccine containing 0.01% thimerosal as a preservative contains… roughly the same amount of elemental mercury contained in a 3 ounce can of tuna fish.”
  3. Ethylmercury is water soluble, so your body excretes it. Put bluntly, you pee it out. This prevents ethylmercury from building up to harmful levels in your body.
METHYLMERCURY, THE TYPE IN OUR FISH
In contrast to ethylmercury, methylmercury, a bi-product of mercury pollution, is highly toxic.

Methylmercury is not water soluble. Your body cannot easily excrete it. Instead it accumulates in our organs. Thus, nearly all of us have some level of methylmercury in our bodies, mainly from eating contaminated fish.

Be careful of facts people. Facts are often dressed up garbage that zealots pass around the internet to promote their beliefs. Real facts are hard to find and even harder to vet. So do what you think is best for you and your loved ones, but don't send sick kids to school.

Flu season could be very interesting this year. It would suck to get Covid while also sick with the Flu. Or vice versa.

One has a reasonably effective defense. The other just attacks and kills only those with weakened immune systems.

For real- Facts are hard to come by these days.
Rapidly changing information vs a lot of bullshit, it's hard to keep track.

Not worried about that one either. But since there's a 5% chance I can get shingles again, I'll definitely get that vaccine. The flu is a sneeze in comparison.
It's my understanding that you are more likely to get shingles again once you've had it even though the actual chances are low.

As far as the flu, you must not have had any of the really bad ones. I sure have have. The last time I had it, it was once of the really bad ones. Sickest I've ever been, period.

I am speaking here only by my own personal experiences, that's a fact. However, my experiences may or may not be your experiences or the experiences of others on a given subject. That too, is a fact. Therefore, not all facts are exactly alike, even when we are talking about the same subject. So, I ask you, are facts really in fact, facts?
