Driving up Friday. Planning on a big ride on Saturday, cruisin' on Sunday....
 
So Mikey how does one make reservations for tent camping at Shidan's place for Friday afternoon through Sunday? I haven't had a whole lot of time to think this through but need to get serious now since Tracy wants to come along:)

Tracy and I want to go - I'll need to make arrangements for my kids but need to know soon if it's on or not.
 
Me, Doug, and Greg are in a Cabin fer sure. BBJohn is day to day on his injury. I think Rotney is camping in Quaking Aspen. Thurs thru Sun. is the plan..

Yes. I'm still a go. A big ride on Saturday sounds perfect. We are heading up late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. I'm staying up the hill at Quaking Aspen. Shuttle or climbing is also ok with me. The Camp Nelson trail starts right out of Quaking Aspen so all I have to do is ride down the hill to hook-up with you guys.

Maybe a little group BBQ after the ride on Saturday?

been so busy last couple months! not to mention falling for supah chick has me all dazzled and confoozled - don't know what's going on anymore :? :lol:

Want to know how to make an orthopedic surgeon laugh? Tell him your plans regarding this trip. I'm out. Sorry to Scottay, Doug and Greg for the added cost now, but thanks for giving me the opportunity to bunk with you guys. I appreciate it. Minimum 6-12 weeks for me.
 
Wish I could. Have some out of town guests for most of that week over. Can't say I haven't been to some great places this summer! Mammoth next wed/thurs!!!

Hey, I may take his place. What are we looking at. I need to trim c=some costs if I'm going to attempt the Tahoe trip in the same month. Lemme know...

Don't be bummed, $hait happens, part of mtn biking. Why hell just recently I have a friend that thought he could move a tree with his face.
Seems the tree won that one. I saw a picture. :lol:
As far as sarcastic fire away. I really was looking forward to getting in some awesome riding with you dirt bags. Hope you guys have a blast!!
 
So who all is going to Camp Nelson? Me, scottay, H^B and Mikie staying at Camp Nelson with MTBHot Rod camping at Quaking Aspen are the ones I know of. Anybody else? Will-D are you in? Should we get together to plan rides, meals and where to stow all of H^B's cereal boxes?

Well I think it's a good idea, and I'm hoping there is room for my cereal? I'm not in on the meal planing cause I will have cereal,don't forget I have to bring some bowls, just so much easier! Hopfully we can get together and sort it?
 
Can't you just bring one bowl? There is a kitchen but you'd have to wash it yourself unless your wife is coming too! :lol: Yeah we should get together. I ain't working yet so you guys pick the time and locale. Could be added to a ride maybe?
 
Tracy and I are going. Looks like we will be tenting it in Shidan's meadow. Since I know nothing of the area or the trails, will ride anything you guys want to - just need to work up a ride schedule. Would be nice to hang out post-ride for sure!

Cabin Questions: I know we have all talked about getting together for details on the cabin. Scottay if you could post what the cabin provides I think this will help let us know what we need to bring. I planned a cooler full of my food, a sleeping bag to throw on a bed just in case, a pillow, towels, & toiletries. Oh and the rumor has it that there is only room for 1 Cereal Bowl... :roll:

CampNelson/Freeman creek for Thurs.
and
Bear Creek for friday?

And do we need a Guide for the Summit trail? Is there gonna be one ( shidan? ) available?

I just left a message on Shidan's phone to call me. I have never done this before so I will stumble through it. I will ask about those two shuttles as well. I did leave message we were doing the big ride on Saturday... and also confirming tenting in the meadow for Will-D and Supah Chick, and Rossage as well with some hairy wood nymphs?

I'd suggest we don't use the shuttle Thursday since we don't know when we'll arrive. We could do Freeman Creek and Needles (lookout is gone but the trail's still there) on Thursday. Those are both ST out and backs about 10 total miles each. Then we could do shuttles Friday and Sat. I'm guessing the big ride is Jordan Peak with Camp Nelson. Just my thoughts since we're uncertain about when we could ride on Thursday after arrival, check-in and unloading at the cabin. If we can swing it, we should still try to get together in the next day or 2 to sort things out.

I've never ridden Jordan Peak but I have ridden Summit trail from Windy Gap to Quaking Aspen but it's been a while. I'd be ok with a guide if he comes cheap but I don't think having one is essential.
 
I could probably get away with a ride on Friday and planning to ride the BIG ride on Saturday. Might ride down Camp Nelson trail to greet you guys in the afternoon once you arrive and "UNLOAD" on Thursday. There's also fishing nearby if anyone is interested. Not sure on the water levels.

Does anyone have a map or topo of the area?
 
Well, since check-in could be late as 3pm, we may hafta ride FIRST! lol

And if Rod were to leave his bike at the camp and drive down to meet us, we could drive him back up,all ride Freeman and Nelson together, and then Rod could drop Greg at his truck on his way back to camp! ( I love it when a plan comes together!)

Or we could do "one man out" shuttles......if we are already at the top of Nelson.
 
That would work! Any idea when we can leave on Thursday? You working stiffs can decide 'cuz I'm off until the 11th. You guys gotta problem with getting together face to face to plan things out :? ? Maybe ya'll don't want to see each other's mugs until Thursday when our 3 night co-habitation commences :lol: ! I'm available anytime after my Acorn ride tomorrow.
