Beer ...I Drank Some.

Not yet - midnight - but I've had it before and it's awesomely good. Here's to a better year!

Sipping 24s at Barker Dam, JTNP...

Ah, Mickey's! Originally made by Miller, and widely distributed, but never seemed to gain any traction where I'm originally from. Back where I grew up in New England, Haffenreffer was the malt liquor of choice. It was packaged in six-packs of 16-oz bottles with the same big mouth as Mickey's. Same terrible skunky smell. At that point in time, 5.6% ABV was considered a heavy hitter! Back in my early 20s, my good friend Debbie could polish off a full six-pack of Haffenreffer plus a full fifth of Southern Comfort on a typical weekend night of cruising the boulevard and drag racing our early 80s, slightly modified, American muscle cars. Oh, the horror! Oh, the fond memories of what seemed like simpler times. "Tramps like us...Baby, we were born to run!"

This was sitting way in the back of the fridge since Christmas. It’s the local brewery collab with a bunch of heavy weight brewers. I especially like the can color way. I asked the dude at the register if it was a reference to The Police’s synchronicity cover. He didn’t know what I was talking about.

I looked all over L.A. and up here in the high desert. Those 24s were the only Mickey's of any size/type I found. I was actually looking for quarts. Doesn't anyone drink old school Mickey's anymore? o_O

I don't, but you're right, it's become harder to find for some reason. I did see sixers at a Vons here in the AV though and 40s at a place near there. Haven't spotted any quarts yet nor, conspicuously, any Old English.
