2019 Kokopelli Epic Adventure

Yes. We have always just stayed at the Moab RV Park on Wednesday night, but have picked up folks at other sites. It's nice to meet and load at one location. :)

I have a room for Wednesday less than a mile from the campground... I'd prefer one of the cabins, but saw the 2 night minimum. What's the parking situation in Moab for those of us with a reserved super-deluxe booking on the Mrs. IMTB Super Shuttle?

Edit: What the heck did I sign up for? It just hit me... 150 miles over 3 days. Sh!t! I ain't in shape for that. :p:D:bang::ninja::poop::D

They do have a place inside the gates to park vehicles. I can't remember if that required a pass or not...

When we did the trip in 2016 they let me park my truck in their back lot while we were out riding. I would just call, they were really accommodating from what I remember.

Steve - Give the park a call. I think if we have enough people wanting to stay for 1 night only then the owner will be more willing to waive the 2 night minimum for the Bikerpelli group. I spoke with Kathy, and her supervisor is Stephanie. And I think you could drive there tomorrow and complete the 150 miles no problem.

Now that I'm finally back at my desk, I had a chance to work on the logistics.
Since I told my wife that this event is a training run for the BCBR I'm committed to keeping it as short as possible......

I'll be flying to GJ Wed night (I think Rob offered to help with transporting my bike). Should get there by midnight.
I booked a room at the local LaQuinta in for Wednesday night (I have an extra bed if someone wants it).
I found a shuttle company who will take me back to GJ Saturday evening (Room for 5 in case anyone is looking for a ride).
8:30 flight back to SNA, should be home for mothers day brunch by noon.

Update regarding the RV campground. The owner is not waiving the 2 night minimum for the deluxe cabins. Bummer. I'm booked for a regular camping cabin the 8th and 11th.
That's too bad. Two years ago, they literally upgraded me to a deluxe cabin without even asking. I'm disappointed, but I'm not paying $100 for a bed.

FWIW, I'm staying at the La Quinta on Wednesday as well, if anyone is up for dinner that evening (and in Fruita, not Moab). Looking forward to seeing those of you I've met before. My goal is to be able to actually ride with some of you this go around.

That person was me. The site asks for A-B riders and I consider myself a C for the argument of endurance. -So I'm worried about my performance. I will use the time before the March 16 cut off to step up my game.
I've always considered myself a below average climber and I was able to complete both years I've been without too much trouble. I wouldn't worry about. You'll have a blast despite being really sore and tired at the end.

All day to ride, no load to carry, reasonable elevation, friends cheering you on, prepared cuisine and beverage...:D:thumbsup:

You're about the only one who could call us soft for 150 miles in 3 days. :D

I am worried a little about the fitness end. I know what I'm good for in one day, but am pretty unsure about a multi-day effort. That's new territory for me... But it's what I also hope to be a stepping stone into the bikepacking world. Pinky toe in the pool!

I was worried about that same scenario when I rode it two years ago. That was pre Tailwind as well. Oh and I had the flu the week before.
Like Mikie assured me, I had enough of a mileage base to carry me through. I actually felt a lot stronger by day three.
You’ll be just fine

Guess we'll have to do a couple back to back 50 milers to see. :geek:

Just train, start riding a few back to back, pretty much throws it all at you, train for the best experience. Like Luis has said , you have the base.
