I've been going to bed 2 or 3am so it's just a late night ride for me. Would be nice to be somewhere up high with a nice view for sunrise.

That’s how these shindigs are done epic.
The camping aspect is the benchmark. Leisure overnight camps are just as good as Kamikaze day (or night) trips.
It also acclimates the rider to the elevation.
