Who's Riding Where???

So, just curious... how many car miles are folks puttin' in to get some bike miles?
I used to head out to Santiago Creek mid-week for a HJ->Main Divide -> W. Horsetheif and saw nary a soul on the trail.
I always felt guilty fo the drive and now so so many of the trails have burned/washed out that it others are impacted.

How far do I have to drive from Seal Beach nowdays to find a peaceful trail?

I'm in Oceanside and we have to drive 80+/- miles each way for Big Laguna/Nobel, Palm Canyon, Idyllwild, a touch further for Big Bear/SART and 100 each way for Mt Wilson....bit none of those are devoid of humans. I suggest possibly driving 13 hours to Durango if you want some peace. I've ridden 5 days and seen less than 10 riders outside our group.

Sunset will be at 8:05. Are we talking so slow that lights may be in order?

Before I moved out of the OC bubble, I was planning on a double Joplin ride for my birthday... I only know one rider who's done a double Joplin. And he's reading this thread! :D
The goal is to get home sans lights. Minimal stopping but also minimal uphill pace. I’ll try to make up for lost time on the downswing.

same place, same time, thanks for reminding me, got to plug in the lights. What kinda fool needs lights on the longest days of the year? And the trails got a little wider tonight, one place over 5 feet wider. Way out of bounds on an 18" wide trail, but it was dark so did it really happen? Pucker factor says yes. After that 3 more times but only off a foot or two
Happy dark trails
