Where do You Want to Retire... and Why?

You'll miss your friends, especially @Voodoo Tom and the bond you guys have,
Don't for a second think that he's not trying to take me with him and also don't think that I'm not trying to figure it out. Problem is I'm too young to retire(or maybe not with what it costs to live there and what I could sell for right now) and we have family here and a kid in school. Who knows though I may just be a couple years behind him. Since I've still got some working years in front of me we have even gone as far as coming up with the genius business plan of "Voodoo's Bitch Slap Barbeque". We have it all figured out and @Mikie is already working on the logo. Since we don't talk politics here I won't share how we came up with the idea...:Roflmao

MNAS?

I drove through there in July 1980. Driving from Millington, TN to Sandy Eggo, CA. My car broke down in Conway, AR - 'bout the middle of BFE.

Lemme just say I-40 wasn't nothin' to write home about. But wait - the A&W in Armadillo, TX was nicely situated for my circumstances.

What an adventure....:facepalm::rolleyes:

Probably I was on a similar route from DC to SD in June, 1970; fortunately, the 62 Impala did the trip with alacrity. All I remember was coming down the "mountain" on the way to SD, a little frightening for an urban boy.

...2000 sq ft attached garage on 15 acres of white and red oak forest... for $300k.

Here, I fixed it :)

Room to do donut burnouts in the garage....

I was talking to one of my new NASCAR buds here about his car color paint scheme, and how he needed to hit up Taco Bell for a hot car color. He showed me this:

It is one of his car paint schemes. So I said... well that is nice and all, but what I'd really want to see is a Krispy Kreme car, and he hit me with the earlier photo of one of his earlier cars. This devolved into an argument about Krispy Kreme versus Dunkin Donuts, that has yet to be resolved :)

There is no argument. Dunkin sells donuts that were made 3 weeks ago in a factory. Krispy Kreme has a nice gimmick but they turn to stone in 15 minutes.

A sub-average mom and pop donut shop is better than any of the chains, except maybe Shipley’s.

Tim Hortons

The first stop after leaving the plane in Toronto.

Tim bits or full size...

Dunkin what?

They pretty much circle Lake Erie now... Growing up, there was a McDonalds 10 miles away in one direction, and a Burger King about the same distance in the other direction. There was nothing else. Now, in that same span, you can stop at one of 4 Tim Hortons. Cleaning up the rust belt one box of Tim Bits at a time.

The closest Starbucks on the other hand is a good 35 miles in either direction...

Hey All, I really appreciate the "well wishing" and encouragement! Seriously.
A positive environment is the goal here and you guys really set me up with some good vibes.

I'll be honest. It is REALLY tough to leave here. The mountain biking is diverse and premium. From riding the Fullerton Loop to hitting Cedar Canyon in Kernville, California has it all.

The one thing that is NOT changing is the mountain biker connections thanks to the World Wide Web.

Here is a link to the property listing while it stays on Realtor.com
For those seeking affordable, if this goes through and I currently do not see how it could not...
The building is 4,000 square feet with 2080 sq ft living space and 2000 sq ft attached garage on 15 acres of white and red oak forest... for $300k. Crazy!

Wow Mikie - good find for you and Kathy!
Not really sorry to hear you are leaving Cali; now we can have personal intel on the trails of Arkansas (and upcoming deals at The Walmart).
When the IMTB family takes a road trip there are several places we can visit: AZ, AR, NC, UT, ID, who did I leave out?

And one day G-REG and KayOss will be departing Cali too ... to be continued

:inlove::inlove::inlove:
That would be AWESOME!!!
I so enjoyed meeting and riding with you two down in OC.
Cathy and I will take the loft bedroom, y’all can have the Master bedroom, when we get lucky and you visit.
I have been connecting with the locals and they take so much pride in their trail system. The Walton boys have invested millions into their trail network.
G-Reg and K-OSS get to stay as long as you like!

Master bedroom is in pic 2 & 3! :)

:thumbsup:Mikie

Prescott Valley, AZ or somewhere in Southern Idaho or Central Oregon. I was going year to year as far as retirement goes but they recently upped our pension contributions to 1.6% from 1.2% for the next 3 years. So, with that incentive, I plan to stay until my 60th birthday in 2024. It'll go by fast.

Mikie. Did you ask the sellers "why" they would leave that place? And will you have a Rat-Rod bicycle next to the yard art Rooster?
Also, I was going to post up pics of my new place, but not now, thanks a lot...

I'm thinking it was a rehab flip by someone. Was purchased earlier this year then resold to Mikie for a profit.
At least according to the link it was sold once already this year.

Enjoy the new digs @Mikie !
