Nope. My mtn bike is my plush living room couch. Mother Nature is my big-screen TV. The remote control is the handlebars on my mtn bike. They provide the exhilaration of pleasant pleasure.

Better for a group ride, worser for wind, sun, heat, sand and scenery?
Slow pedaling thru the shady forest is kinda awesome, would suck for first timers to miss out. Goes by too fast on the DH direction.

I say we climb the fire road up to where the trail crosses it (like we did for Mikie’s bike surprise) and jump on the trail there.

I prefer fire road climbs as opposed to trail climbs. On a fire road, you just get into a rhythm and spin with minimal distractions. Its wide and featureless compared to a trail.
