Splashed through as many puddles as possible today to get the Utah road salt off.

left Solitude at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, got home at 12:15 Thursday morning. Beat most of the rain but did hit scary thick fog all the way down Cajon Pass.

Anyone got a good idea on Snowplay coming from OC.?
My daughter wants to take our dog to the snow, in her Camry, without chains or weather - this week before school starts again.
Not all day, just play around in the snow awhile.
I was thinking maybe Manker Flat near Baldy?
Is snow low enough?
Maybe Wrighteood? (A bit far?)
To me, Big Bear is too far and too much of a zoo.
Maybe Jenks Lake area?
I was thinking maybe Thursday or Friday based upon current predictions.

Anybody got any advice?

I was at Jenks Lake rd and the 38 last Friday. It was perfect. Not too crowded. I like the option of the steep hill next to the more gradual slopes.

kids had a blast and were not worn out after climbing the tamer hill like 20 times. 38 was a bit Icy in the shady sections. No chains if you take it easy. Plow was active that day. You may want to carry some chains just in case CHP requires them that day.

my wife and I were in big bear overnight this last wed/thurs during the last storm. There was hardly any snow below 7,000’ . Wed was clear and a zillion people were out with their kids trying to sled in the 4-6” of snow on the north-facing areas. Resort slopes looked ok though. Storm came in thurs am and it snowed a little early so I put the chains on to go get breakfast-and then it turned to rain so took them off again. Waited a bit to see if it would change-still rain so we drove up the 38 over onyx summit where we had to chain up again at 8000’. Decent snow at onyx summit but a jillion people so we just drove home and chains off again at 7500’. Looking at the Doppler now and it’s been raining below 7500-8000’ and that’s probably washing away remaining snow. These Pineapple Express storms are just too warm. I could be wrong but if you’re looking for a winter wonderland I think you’re going to have hike up real high or go to the resort slopes where they maybe make snow whenever it gets cold enough overnight. Or Mammoth :)
