The Megatower has arrived...

I'm not going to let a bike color get in the way of performance. I would even buy the Megatower if it fit my bill of riding.
I own the Hightower in that pale grey and although it was not my first choice on color the bike is too dang good to pass up for the type of riding I do. Plus, the color has grown on me as well. Pretty sure I can speak for @Voodoo Tom that his Mango Hightower of magnificence is way more fun regardless that its glows in the daytime brilliance. With all that black he has on it for trim it is downright sexy!
:thumbsup:Just sayin'...

I'll let looks get in the way every time and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I wouldn't drive a Pontiac Aztec if it was free. Same goes for a set of wheels with pink hubs but to each their own. I heard some people actually bought Aztecs, Pacers & Gremlins at dealerships. By the way, I actually like the color of your Hightower. The mango....not so much.

I bought a used Gremlin.

In Millington, TN.

It ran like a raped ape (304 cid AMC motor) but yeah, second or third ugliest car on the planet.

The Yugo may be uglier.

I don't know how this is possible?!?!? I'm WAY better looking than @doublewide !

Dream on Spandex Cowboy!

So then who is the guy in your avatar ? That's the guy that I thought Mikie's avatar looks like, not facial features, but used-car-salesman look on the face... Again, no offense intended, I love used car salesmen!

No offense taken!! In my avatar is the Great Porter Wagoner, country music icon!

Arent all new bikes required by law to have refelctors installed?

Well... if you are going to follow the letter of the law, all bikes (as sold in assembled or partially assembled condition) require:
(1) A front white reflector
(2) A rear red reflector
(3) Two white spoke reflectors, or reflective tire sidewalls or wheel rims, viewable from both sides of the bike
(4) Front and rear reflectors on all pedals

It is a commercial regulation under the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

I wouldn't put them on a display bike designed for off-road biking however... Call me a maverick :) (Looking closely at the bike, I see they have reflector pedals installed - but not the wheel reflectors) As long as the bike goes out the door with the reflectors installed, and the pedals included, you are clear. If the consumer decides to remove them... it's on them.

Note that you won't see a photo from Santa Cruz with reflectors on any of their bikes :)

In a L I hope.....so I can perhaps try the bike that you mayhaps just ordered. :sneaky:

XL, Forest Green, X01 Build, Air Shock - Deciding on reserve wheels or not. I'm thinking of doing a custom graphics package in white to mirror the USFS Fire Fighting color scheme.

Sorta yolo'ing on sizes. The XL Bronson fits me quite nicely and this is a smidge shorter ETT due to the seat tube angle. I'm definitely a bit between sizes now on SC bikes where the XL feels big for the first two rides and then I adjust. The larges feel great at first, but a few months in after I adjust, I find that i get a tugging sensation where I feel like i'm being nudged forward over the bars a bit.

At any rate, this is going to be a big ass bike and that's the hole it's going to fill in my stable. I have a trance 29 to pair it up with that has reasonable numbers (specifically wheelbase). This will be the shuttle, bike park, bad decision machine. I was honestly on the fence but after reading the articles on nsmb and bike mag, and watching the bike mag youtube video... I'm all in. The comments about it being well rounded and comparable to the bronson were the tipping point.

I knew this was going to be the big end of my stable, but I definitely wanted to get something that could still do bigger days (like PCE or san gabes rides... and not punish me). Definitely looking forward to riding this thing at whistler with a coil shock, 180mm air spring and the long chainstay setting. Stormtrooper mode, engage.
