The Derailed Thread...

How, exactly, does one derail a derailed thread?
Like this, by staying on track...
What is the go to dropper seatpost these days?
From PB:
RST's $999 Wireless Dropper Post

RST was showing off a wireless remote dropper that will be available at the end of the year for $999. Yes, that’s US dollars, and several of us double-checked that it was an accurate MSRP. Seemingly very similar to Magura’s dropper, the electric trigger actuates a hydraulic dropper with infinite positioning within its 150mm of travel. RST claims the micro-USB charged battery will last 2300-2400 unweighted cycles, or 700-800 100kg-weighted cycles before needing its common 18350 lithium battery to be recharged. The post is 3D forged “to prevent cracking noise after riding for a while,” and claimed weight is 730-grams with remote. Judging by feel, the claimed weight seemed accurate.

Why should people try to get out of their civic duty? Small price to pay.

1. Wasted time. Judges and attorneys don't go fast enough. 9:00 am to 11:30; 1:00 pm to 4:30.

2. She's a part time employee - no workee, no pay.

3. She's moving into an apartment, see #2.

4. It's a very large price to pay for very many.

5. You probably wouldn't want her on your jury, since she has a working brain.

#1 is very true - which makes 2, 3 and 4 true by default. I would want someone with a working brain on a jury, so I don't buy #5.

I just the think the "get out of jury duty" game is a little sad. I don't want to give up my time either, but I've been impanelled twice, probably because I answer the questions truthfully. But I guess I should serve. I don't get docked, and I have a better-than-basic understanding of the US Constitution and the founding principles of our nation.

#5 should be bought...anyone with a working brain will see right through both attorneys. These days it isn't about truth, it's about winning. She's on a tort case, and just aced her business law class. She's looked at plaintiff and respondents, and is not impressed. She has given me no details, of course, but the general idea is the plaintiff is an idiot.

I aced my Business Law class. Just sayin’...

She's also almost as libertarian as I am, and firmly believes that adulthood should be legalized. That is not the person you want for a juror, criminal OR civil, on either side. :whistling:
Not if you're the plaintiff!

I come from a family of Frisbeeterians - oops, I mean Libertarians. God (or your chosen deity) love them! A firm belief that people can and will govern themselves to do what's best for themselves and their fellow man.

But yes, the opposite is the awful nanny state in which someone seeks - and wins -$5 million in damages for taking a mundane risk and getting slightly injured, or emotionally bruised. I crashed my motorcycle slipping on wet highway striping. I will sue the DOT, the motorcycle manufacturer, the tire manufacturer, the paint manufacturer and mother nature for making it rain.

Ummm, no.

I'm not going down the political argument rabbit hole. Suffice it to say that the small "l" libertarian knows darn well that men are not angels, and that until they are government is a necessary evil, and that government is force. A force which needs to be kept in check. Legalizing adulthood means you are responsible for your actions, and nothing which does no physical harm to the person or property of another can possibly be a crime or a tort. And if harm is done with their consent, there also can be no crime or tort.

Socially liberal, economically conservative. I don't care what you do, just don't expect me to bail you out when you fail. Marry a stump, for all I care.

You are responsible for your own emotional state and reactions. You cannot offend another who does not decide to be offended. Therefore, there can be no legal recourse for insult. A business owner can decide who to serve (yes, who, not whom.:Roflmao) A government exists solely to protect the rights you have, and those rights are not given by government. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Would that this attitude was more prevalent.

I will now dismantle my soapbox.

Jury Duty absolutely kills self employed people. It's $100s if not $1000s lost and it causes appointment back-ups for those who function via work routes.

The system needs to be revamped. There are "professional witnesses", so why not have "professional jurors"??? A large group of trained jurors who are paid fairly for their duty and who are shuffled around a County to keep it "fair".

If the Judge, attorneys, and court workers are getting well paid to do trials, so should the jurors!
