The Tesla is the wife's. They both get driven regularly.Which do you think gets driven more, the Lamborghini or the Tesla?
I guess one makes up for the other, so it's a Carbon emissions wash.

A friend of mine has an R8 and gave me a proper 30 minute demo ride in the hills above Westlake a couple of years ago. I had no idea that street legal automobiles were capable of doing what we did in that car, and not so much as a chirp or squeal from the tires.
They were in the sunglass compartment by the sunroof controls. I never leave anything of value in view, and very seldom in the car more than a few minutes.
Unless they're really thirsty and want a half bottle of water. that's in plain sight.
Yours is the latest generation with the push button start? If so, it can't be started/stolen without the fob, or the fob code(s). If one was to leave the extra fob hidden inside the car, I don't believe it could be locked from the outside. So, the "second key" idea does not work in this scenario. And yes, the second key thing sucks. I am told that the lock mechanism can be changed by a locksmith to fit the original key that is inside the fob. After special ordering and waiting a couple weeks for the lock cylinder ( of course it was backordered) I finally called to see if they had it in. Yep they did. Picked it up and installed it.
Like @SnakeCharmer said, it was super easy to install, may be 15 minutes? My neighbor asked what I was doing and told him the story, and how they just took the sunglasses and I thought that was odd they would check there. His thought was that people often keep an extra key in that spot and that's what they were looking for to steal the car. Now this makes more sense.
Anyway, except now having a separate key ( why they don't supply the same type IDK) now the car is good to go. Thanks Snake!!
And yeah, Some people suck.....
That's spectacularMy baby bro finally got his new old stock Jeep up and running from my parents’ house.
It’s an ‘89 with 500 miles on it that he bought for $1500 from the Crean estate when he got back from his 4th tour of Afghanistan.
Looks so damn good!

Congrats to the Mrs.! Happy wife, happy life. I do like me some Subarus.New car day for the wifey. 2021 Subaru Forester Sport. Sold the CR-V to Carmax painlessly for exactly what the online offer was. She's happy and I'll probably be buried in my old truck with a pile of bikes in the back someday but I'm good with that...

I absolutely loved both of my Subi Foresters (except for the oil leaks after 150K miles or so). Sold the last one to get a Tacoma, so's I could tow a tent trailer (Foresters can't tow for shittake), after wife laid down the no-more-camping-on-the-ground ultimatum 2 years ago. Just made that call today and it’s $100 a year more than the 2015 CR-V it replaced. Seems reasonable.I looked at the insurance cost comparisons with the various Subaru models against others. No, thanks.

There is no cheap/reasonable/affordable insurance for a 21 year old driver. Might as well GO BIG!But were you looking at a 21 year old driver????
According to this article Tesla is not allowing salvaged vehi to use its super charger network.
This tells me that Tesla knows who and what car is hooking up to the "pump". A person/car should be able to pull up, pay cash and remain anonymous if you like. there is NO reason in the world anyone should know what car you're in, except maybe the guy in the car next to you.
This is a red flag to me and a reason Not to go electric. Go gas. Pump where you like, no one gives a hoot about you or your car. And even @Faust29 can gas up the car with the rusty fist size holes in it and we won't judge.

Bwah-hah-hah.....and you thought the gummint was overreaching......
Oh wait, maybe they're in cahoots..
The Govm't ain't that organized.
Tesla fans love their Tesla-only charging network. But this is one of the many downsides.According to this article Tesla is not allowing salvaged vehicles to use its super charger network.

I'll stay gas thank you very much.

it’s not a conspiracy, the fact that the charger recognizes your car is part of the deal.
.
Tesla keeps a tight lid on who can use its super chargers, but other than that, the only big compatibility issue is that Nissan and old BMWs use a Japanese connector and charge protocol. Most non-Tesla fast charger stations have one Nissan connector, and the rest of the spots are SAE.The brand specific only charging station thing is total BS! Talk about controlling a market??!
Gasoline vehicles all have the same port for refueling. No car is "recognized" and therefore given permission to refuel.
Electricity is electricity. Just like gasoline is gasoline. Give me a break!
Charging on the road is the concern. I feel that charging stations should be universal. Non-vehicle manufacturer branded stations and Government run. The last thing humanity needs during a switch from one type of powered vehicle to another (from gas to electric) is limitations. Are we all not equal? Do we all not have the exact same DNA? Is electricity not all the same?Tesla keeps a tight lid on who can use its super chargers, but other than that, the only big compatibility issue is that Nissan and old BMWs use a Japanese connector and charge protocol. Europe mandates their own standard connector for everyone including Tesla. But you still can’t get an account to charge a non Tesla car at a Tesla station.
And there’s still charging at home.
... Are we all not equal?...

Sack up and show yourself Herzie.STRAVA says we are not.
