Sycamore Canyon in Riverside

Friend and I found another cool line through Mini Moab. Same at the beginning, but the middle is totally different. Technical down and up:

That
Correction, it was RCI trail for those interested
That's a new one. One of our Thursday regulars designed it with his cousins (names after themselves) and we put it together over a few weeks of riding. Turned out fun.

I haven't recorded that one yet.

This probably isn't the correct place to put this, but I think it's possibly the best for the riders who venture out here.

I've been out on the west side of the park doing some work the past couple days, which I'm hoping to shore up a little after it rains. Originally, I was going to clean up Terry's wall, but instead I got distracted on the way up, and ended up adding some berms, a drop, and brushing the singletrack that runs along the fireroad leading up from the Via Vista trailhead. While there's still quite a bit of work to do, the trail flows much better than it did previously. Ideally, when it's done I'd like the trail to be easy enough for my 6 year old to ride down, while also including optional lines and features to make it fun for more experienced riders.

New rock drop into berm

Berms with a couple water bars in the middle that can be doubled up

Additionally, I started brushing the trail that extends from where this one ends, which leads to a couple old dilapidated jump lines. I'm toying around with the idea of filling some of the doubles in to make the line more accessible so that hopefully it gets usage and doesn't run into disrepair again. The cool thing about these trails is that compared to a majority of the park, they aren't built on the fall line, so even without any maintenance they've held up remarkably well & are fairly free of major ruts.

I might be there tomorrow, I'll take a look. Also looking at a line another friend is rebuilding at Rattlesnake.

Seems like the perfect place!

I'd definitely be happy to help with maintenance on Rattlesnake, it's due for a refresh!

Regarding this trail, someone came through and kicked down a berm and the kicker to the rock drop (amongst other things). I tried to salvage what I could with limited time, but I honestly don't have high hopes seeing as it took less than 24 before someone trashed it.

I'm hoping to get out tomorrow early afternoon for a quick ride and to status check again.

Finally pulled the camera back out:

thank you for the hard work. I have been riding this little section the last few times out.

You're welcome. I ride up from the adjoining neighborhood 2-3 times a week, and thought it might be a bit more interesting than taking the fireroad down every day.

Nice flow! Last time I rode that I peeled off to the right somewhere. Ended up bush whacking.:coffee:

Haha. I started to cut that section in, but the snakes came out before I could finish it.

At one point, I ran into 2 rattlesnakes on one run down the trail so I abandoned a shovel out there for at least a month before making an attempt to reclaim it.

So many good trails out there because of people like you. Thanks for your efforts.
