I'm pretty sure it was changed to Golden Eagle because the September 9th Skyline ride was to celebrate my birthday. This is funny, as this was originally going to be the Godfather reveal before it moved to G.E. So moving this to the ninth was really just a quick slight of hand to keep @Mikie from getting suspicious. Now it's really turning into a thing!!!
I'm in!
Blythe??? Why?Here is my schedule:
8-26 Blythe
9-2 Palm Springs
9-9 Skyline(Big Bear)
9-16 Cannell
9-23 something local (most likely your HJ/SJ ride)
9-30 Grizzly(Big Bear)
10-14 Wrightwood 50
All that on top of my 100 mile round trip commute during the week.
Whole lotta driving.
I'm in!
Probably not. But I just had my 2nd day on the demo and I am PR'ing everything on that! That new avatar is so you!!! I'll bet you could PR everything on that steed.
Let's play it by ear...Jennifer and I are in. Will there still be a shorter version?
I'm probably going to park at the top of the hill, at the Radford grade intersection. That's a good meet up spot as it is at the top of the climb, and it'll let me do the rest of the ride (presuming out to Plantation loop) and back w/out any drama. So that's a good option for anyone wanting to be in the B group. I'd recommend starting up there, rather than burning up all your matches on the climb to get there.Let's play it by ear...
We'll make sure we can split in to two groups at a key point if need be...
Maddog and I were talking about climbing up Moonridge road to fire road then get on Skyline as an alternative to climbing Fern/Plumbers (more difficult climbs) . Then doing skyline east to west , doing a loop back to the SS parking lot via town trail, about 24 mi. loop. An option for those who'd rather not do the 30 ish mile out and back. Possibly an option for @Cyclotourist and /or the @UPSed.Let's play it by ear...

I think I'd rather go up Fern than take Moonridge/Clubview. Still mulling over options... maybe not 100% able to go now... just realized my kid has a CX meet that morning. That is normal for Big Bear, they get a fair of amount of rain during the summer there after July. And it's supposed to be upper 80s and bone dry in Oregon. Something is backwards here.
Yeah, I think last Mon and Tues they were getting heavy rain. That is normal for Big Bear, they get a fair of amount of rain during the summer there after July.

Exactly. When we were in Flagstaff a couple of months ago the rain was quite refreshing. However the lightning was a little unnerving.Rain is great... it's the atmospheric static discharge that ain't so fun to be around!
